jerrysta 12-12-2005, 01:52 PM Please post if you have ever bought anything from GMPARTSDIRECT.com
How was the shipping, such as packaging and turnaround time?
I did a search but nothing came up. I ma hoping for positive experiences as they have the LT4 timing set for 210 and even Dal from VanDevere is asking 242.00
Thanks.
Ultra_Dog 12-12-2005, 02:16 PM If you have "Faith" in a personless system, have more time than money, and believe that the part will not be broken during transit. Go for it.
IF you worry about a broken part, need to ask a question, or want your money back....go somewhere else.
I used them and will never use them again.
jkipp84 12-12-2005, 02:21 PM My experience with them sucked.
Obscene shipping charges combined with unresponsive customer service and botched shipping address... Never again.
By the way, you may want to post this in the lounge instead as this is an engine tech forum.
I've ordered from them a few times. The prices are lower than Dal's but the shipping cost is insane... add that timing set to your cart and look at the shipping to see what I mean.
They can be quite slow to ship as well, but I've never gotten a broken item from them.
Loadre 12-12-2005, 02:33 PM Shipping is high but their prices are low. You'll be waiting for a bit for your parts possibly too so take that into account.
I've done quite a bit of business and never had a problem, though.
jsetzer 12-12-2005, 02:59 PM My experience is that service and price is better going through Jason. If its Gm and I need it new, go Jason.
If its aftermarket.... theres a bigilion places. But I will give a plug for victory racing, they recently treated me well.

+1
They are a compitent retailer. My only complaint is that more than $5 for shipping for a lt4 knock module is crazy.
2000GTP 12-12-2005, 03:18 PM I guess I'm one of the few so far with a good report.... I ordered an LT4 knock module last month for 42.00 shipped to my door. I received it in three days and they sent me a free "GM Parts Direct" baseball cap with my order. I will probably order from then again in the future.
JKDZ28 12-12-2005, 03:27 PM I've had no problems with them. I will ONLY buy from them IF I cannot get it elsewhere.
Like stated above, shipping charges are REDICULOUS!
2001NBMZ28 12-12-2005, 03:35 PM I've ordered from them a few times - no problems.

I will do a little rant about ridiculous shipping charges... I was originally going to order my LT4 KM from Miami Motorsports, they wanted a ridiculous 20.00 to ship that "little chip" to my house. The total price was around 67.00 if I remember correctly. That immediately led me to GMPartsDirect where I got it much cheaper.
87DJP2001 12-12-2005, 03:58 PM When you buy from gmpartsdirect you have to look at the TOTAL cost and forget about shipping charges, If the total cost is lower then the Dealer, its a good deal. So stop bitching about shipping charges you dont have to buy there.
bond2 12-12-2005, 05:09 PM ordered quite a few things from them. Shipping is high, but their prices are so low that you don't even care to pay a little more for shipping. Way better than any auto parts store or dealer, unless you know someone at the dealer. I have never had any issues, and always received my parts within a weeks time. I've heard backordered parts can take up to two weeks for delivery. Helps if you have that giant PDF file with all the diagrams and part numbers.
Chuck! 12-12-2005, 05:26 PM I ordered ebrake brackets for my LS1 rear end from them and they ended up shipping me a control module for an Astro Van. I called and they said they'd send out the brackets, but I never got them. Luckily I found the ones that came with the rear end so I said **** it. I'll go elsewhere next time.
corbraeater 12-12-2005, 05:48 PM they suck it took like three weeks to get my optispark from them, and there is none there who can help you
91Z-28 12-12-2005, 05:59 PM They also charge incredible prices on shipping. 38$ for a cam? Get the **** out of here.
steve9899 12-12-2005, 06:05 PM Complaints about the shipping are what's ridiculous. It's not like they hide the shipping charges from you. Total cost is all that matters.
That said, I used GMPD once and won't do it again. I had read from other customers that if you have any problems with the order it is a major pain to get service. In particular I'd read that if you provide part numbers, and something turns out to be the wrong P/N they won't do anything for you.
In order to avoid this situation, I had them look up all the part numbers for me. In spite of this one of the P/N was wrong, and the part didn't match my car. Even though the problem was 100% on them they tried to tell me I couldn't return it. I did eventually get a refund but I had to argue a lot for it.
I also received one part that was broken in transit because they took all the GM parts, boxed or unboxed, and threw them in one large box with no additional packing. One of the fairly fragile unboxed items was broken. They made me file a claim with the shipper which was ridiculous since it was a packing problem not a shipping problem. Took a few months to get my money back on that part. That was a $10 part out of a $600-700 order. A company that gave a rats azz about customer service would have shipped me a new $10 part immediately.
ImportKILLER 12-12-2005, 07:01 PM Thankfully there is a local place that matches GM Parts Direct's pricing.
Usually I just have to wait a day or two.
dramamine 12-12-2005, 07:05 PM I've ordered through them several times without problems. Turnaround time is a couple weeks to Texas. Haven't had a need to use their customer service, which I wonder about. (no phone numbers, etc)
matLT1 12-12-2005, 07:42 PM I just ordered the A/C delete pulley from them. It arrived much faster than they said it would and was $20 cheaper than Summit Racing (which is generaly fairly cheap). My only beef is that the outer box was beat-up and had a lot of tape on it.
BlackDog 12-12-2005, 08:48 PM Man.... here we go again.
n2ceptor 12-12-2005, 08:58 PM As I have stated in other posts, I use them as a reference and print the page going to my local dealership... Usually they will match or come close to price....Plus no shipping charges....:)
But then again, I do have a good relationship with my local GM parts department...:)
HotwhipT/A 12-12-2005, 09:05 PM Yea, I used them once. Shipping is high but it still was cheaper than buying at a local dealership. I just wanted to try them, I doubt I will use them again. It took too long to recieve and it also said that their is NO RETURNS on special order items. Says that special order items take longer too. I guess I got lucky and THEY didn't F'up on what I needed.
Vigilante 12-12-2005, 09:20 PM It took about 7 or 8 days for me get my order from them, but then again I am on the opposite side country from them. I thought the shipping was kind of slow but not too bad.
lt11997 12-13-2005, 03:32 AM I've ordered from them a few times - no problems.
Same here.
I've been ordering from them for about 4 years now. They are 9 times out of 10 cheaper then anywhere else even after shipping so i can't complain about the prices. When i first started ordering form them, they were fairly quick, had my parts to me within a week. It seems they have really slowed down over the years though. A few times in the past year it has taken about three weeks for my parts to arrive. I understand they have to order the parts themselves, wait for them to arrive and send them out to me but there's no reason it should take so long. I only order from them when I'm not in any sort of rush to get what I need.
I had some trouble their customer service a few times but in the end they fixed the issue.
