something better than 1LE A/C Deletearthur 12-10-2005, 12:15 AM nevermind pHEnomIC 12-10-2005, 12:48 AM I am, what does it involve? arthur 12-10-2005, 09:55 AM nevermind FastZinTennessee 12-10-2005, 10:39 AM What the [EDIT]? Note from moderator - Do not test or override the language filter. Procharged94Lt1 12-10-2005, 11:07 AM I tried thinking of several different ways to get around buyin the delete pulley, but there was none I could think of. What I don't understand is why would someone leave the a/c pump on the car if they are doing a complete removal? 1.) With the a/c pump out of there it opens up precious more room under the car for working on things. 2.) Every little bit of weight reduction helps IMO, and that a/c pump isn't the lightest accesory either. But I am always open to ideas and suggestions, if yours is good I will try it and sell my delete pulley. Mr_Bond 12-10-2005, 11:10 AM The whole reason for the A/C delete is weighy saving. Puting the weight of the lines, condenseor, and the unit seem like a waste of time. My money is with the A/C delete pully. arthur 12-10-2005, 11:51 AM nevermind pHEnomIC 12-10-2005, 12:16 PM Well, I do realize that the thing is heavy, if you want to give a guide with pics i may consider it. Of course i would take out all the lines, etc. I thought about doing this a while back but was worried because the compressor is the heaviest part of the system. Injuneer 12-10-2005, 12:25 PM If I understand this correctly - we're supposed to rip apart and destroy the A/C compressor, which we could sell intact for $50 or more, in order to save $30 for a 1LE delete pulley? What's wrong with this picture? Maybe something got lost in the translation. arthur 12-10-2005, 12:29 PM nevermind arthur 12-10-2005, 12:42 PM Injuneer its you're choise if you want to sell it or not get a spare one or whatever I just thouth of sharing with everyone else and if I will get bash why everyone for posting something helpful for everyone what in the hell I'm i doing in this board 2000GTP 12-10-2005, 02:40 PM I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea if you had an old broken compressor lying around the garage. As stated by Injuneer, the 1LE pulleys are cheap, I picked mine up along with the belt for 25.00 from someone on this board. Also, it would be kind of pointless to destroy a working A/C unit if you ever wanted to return the car to stock one day or just sell the parts to make a few bucks. pHEnomIC 12-10-2005, 03:16 PM My a/c compressor seized up so i am interested. I was planning on deleting it but, i wouldnt be able to sell it so, if this modification was close in weight to the delete bracket it would be worth doing. One thing i would be worried about is strength. The thing would be exposed to a lot of power and would need to handle it withou bending or breaking. arthur 12-10-2005, 04:58 PM pHEnomIC you have pm Dave69Z 12-11-2005, 10:04 AM My a/c compressor seized up so i am interested. The 1LE Pulley is just a simple aluminum casting with a pulley mounted to it. Besides, it also gives you much better access to run your plug wires, etc. Dave blind527 02-14-2006, 06:06 PM I know this is an old thread, but I decided to bring one up instead of creating another. What do you guys plug the radiator with after you take the lines out? What are all the things I would need? Evil Eric 02-15-2006, 02:05 AM you dont plug the radaitor, the AC condensor is a whole piece that is the same dimensions as the the radaitor itself, just mounted in front of it. pull it out along with the lines and the compressor. blind527 02-15-2006, 09:10 AM you dont plug the radaitor, the AC condensor is a whole piece that is the same dimensions as the the radaitor itself, just mounted in front of it. pull it out along with the lines and the compressor. Oh I see...What about the lines that go into the firewall, there is a big metal piece that connects inside the black box, do I love the metal piece in it or do I take that out as well? I'm keeping my heat. http://shbox.com/1/refrigerant_sensor.jpg Do I take the metal thing out of the plastic box going into the firewall, with those lines, and the round metal thing? *Not sure what it's called, but it says caution on it in the pics* If I took everything out except what is in the firewall, will I get heat, and have my defrosters work? Or do I have to leave that metal thing in the black box with those lines? arthur 02-17-2006, 01:16 AM who want to see a pic of the front of the a/c only with the rear completely remove and install on the car I will sent it to one of two people who are willing to post it on the board blind527 02-17-2006, 10:05 AM I wanna see some pics. | ||
