how can i tell if its an SS?

Im going to look at a 2001 Z28 convertable tomorrow with the ss hood and emblems, but is there a way of telling like on the vin etc if it really is an SS?

dual exhaust with chrome tips, the OME is one piece welded, it might have the SLP dual dual or the center outlets too.

The doors might have the sticker too.

yes, there is an RPO Code for the SS Package!
RPO WU8 ($3950 in 2001 for example)

Actually Hurst shifter was an option in both the Z28 and SS, you could have a SS with the standard round ball and long through.

The exhaust was 2 out the left (2OTL) 96&97 but changed to a big 3" chrome tip out the drives side on 98 then went to 2 smaller chrome tips 99-2002.

The ZR1 5 spoke wheels were the wheel from 96-99 and it changed to the 10 spokes 2000-2002:cool:

My advice is check the vin/codes because there are a lot of clones out there people try to sell as a true SS. For example, I have a clone of a 97 SS with a 98 SS wing, no one would really know unless they pull the vin, and my car is a 94.
