DETROIT -- General Motors plans to shut down its Oklahoma City plant in the first week of February next year, the automaker told the plant's employees in a letter on Monday.
The Oklahoma City plant builds the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy and Isuzu Ascender SUVs.
The plant, which has 2,000 employees, is the first in a series of 12 facilities GM said it will close as part of a broader restructuring effort.
The world's largest automaker has said it will slash 30,000 jobs through 2008.

I believe that only the extended version are built at this plant... and rumor is the next gen TB/Envoy may not have an extended verion.... or it may be built on the same line as the regular length versions.

There's also been rumors than the ext wheelbase models were to be killed at the end of '06 anyway, so this makes sense. Supposedly, they'll get a re-skin for MY '08, but that GM sees their market as "declining," and won't put a big investment in them.
Funny...they put all that $$$ into the GMT 900s, then say the 360s are a declining market. Does anyone else smell the fact they want to push their new, big-*** crossovers? Probably not a bad move, but for anyone that wants to tow...I wonder how those crossovers will fare.
