Best Flowing Stock Heads

I realize that some of you look at quite a lot of LT-1 heads. Of the following part numbers is any particular head better? (Out of the box).
10205245
10128374
14088526
10207643
12551561
10207640
I race Stock Eliminator and any advantage, even very slight, is worth investigating. I'm sure that some of you who port heads have done quite a lot of "before" tests.

Thanks in advance,

Daren

I have never seen any large diff between the stock flow #s of these heads. They are all very similar except for the 561 head. It is alot thinner than the other castings. The roof can not be raised as much and the shortside can not be widened as much.

FWIW, we rarely flow stock stuff unless we notice variances. I've got some of those 561 heads now, and stock I believe theyll be similar to an lt4 as far as peak numbers go.. 230ish. Stock eliminator is good stuff, we've done stocker stuff in the past .

Might want to check with CHS (Cylinder Head Services) on that. They do alot of Stock Eliminator work so they're kinda "in the know".

You dont hafta use muratic acid to keep it looking right.. we dont anyway. Not that we'd ever take money for someone wanting to use it that way... or something. Sucks when everyone else is doing it y'know? Of course, we didnt do anything illegal at all to my buddy rich's heads.. 283 with 3 full seasons on it.. chevy2, k/stock, runs 7.40's in the 1/8th... pretty damned good for a .398 lift flat tappet cam with truely legal heads etc.

just to not add confusion or anything...i didn't mean YOU do it. I was making a general statement of things that go on and was poking fun at it

This is way down on the cheating list though.....i think the worst thing i've ever heard was i think 2 years ago

someone bought a race car from someone and crashed it.....when they were picking up the pieces they found a sneaky pete nitrous bottle INSIDE the damn fuel cell

They were using it as some extra punch
Pretty slick setup, bottle inside the cell so you can use one of the cell outlets and it looks like a fuel line

the racing organization fined him and banned him for a year if i remember right and he was a new owner

I didnt take it that way

I've seen some pretty creative setups i probably shouldnt talk about.. LOL. But yeah.. things like youre talkin about.. all the time man, all the damned time it seems. Guys with n2o inside all kinda stuff... cup guys cheating to get more air.. all kinda stuff. Nuts.

you aren't cheating if you don't get caught

or, the winners are the ones that cheat the best

Thanks for the replies!

I am in Honduras at the moment, but when I get home I will look to see which castings I have. Which year LT-1 did the 561 head come on?
I would probably willing to pay for someone to flow several different heads for me, but I want to start with the best castings.
I am looking to build the best LT-1 that I can. Porting of any kind is out of the question.

Best Regards,

Daren

Honestly i think the best thing you can do is just get "lucky"

Some heads come out of GM better than others, thats why some of the guys are flyn' without head work and just bolt ons in the LT1 world

JMO though

Re: Best Flowing Stock Heads

I have the 561's on my 97 Z. Im wanting to get rid of them so I can get either a 374 or 643 casting for porting.
