Tune up....Needs some parts advice

Ok, its time for a tune up. I`ve already ordered taylor spiro-pro wires(35$ from tybtrne ) And im gonna use GM ignition coils. But for spark plugs i could use some insight, i currently have NGK TR55`s in there and was wondering if i should buy more of those or maybe switch to ac delco`s. Any insight on what type of plugs and model would be nice thanks in advance

just stick with some ac delco rapid fire platnums for our cars. You don't have any mod that are making tons of power so just stick with what comes stock with our cars.

Re: Tune up....Needs some parts advice

I've used both the NGK TR-55s and the Delco Plats. and had no problems with each. The pros of the NGKs are that they are alot cheaper, but require changing sooner than the plats. The plats. are more expensive but also last longer. It can go either way in my opinion.

I'm not sure if it is necessary to change the 3 coil packs. You could save a few bucks my crossing that off the list, unless one is defective or generating a weak spark or something. Not sure of your situation.

Otherwise, a new fuel filter and PCV valve are cheap tune up parts as well if you haven't already done so. Also, it wouldn't hurt to take off your air ducting and clean the throttle body with some cleaner and a old toothbrush. I'm sure after nine years, there is alot of carbon buildup.

Have them tested before you buy new ones. Most parts stores will be able to test them. You can also have your ICM tested I believe. Those coil packs usually last for a LONG time (my '91 Lumina has the same ones, and they have 186k miles, and they still throw a great spark.)
