Is there Traction control in 94Z28
Is there Traction control in 94Z28
On my 94Z28 automatic, I have a traction control light on the dash cluster but no toggle button anywhere.
Whenever I do a doughnut or something of that nature, the low-trac light comes on.
Is this the tell-tale sign of traction control even though there is no toggle button?
How can one tell?
Thanks
Daniel

Re: Is there Traction control in 94Z28
Only time my Low trac light comes on is when my brakes lockup and the car is still sliding... other than that there is no traction control system. Might be a different sensor setup o nthe automatic though. If you look in your underhood relay box... there should be an empty slot that says TCS. That's where your traction control relay would be if you had it.
Re: Is there Traction control in 94Z28
That's just to let you know that you're sliding, it doesn't actually function like traction control, it just lets you know that all of the tires aren't spinning at the same speed.

Nope, no traction control. I drive a 94Z28 A4, same sensor setup I believe. Though, I must say, whenever I take off and that Low Traction light comes on, it does bring a smile to my face.

Yeah, '95 was the first year for TCS.....I think I'm correct on that.
I've never seen the Low-Trac light come on......but then again I've never really skidded while trying to stop. But I've burned out from a light before and never saw it.

Re: Is there Traction control in 94Z28
My guess is it was cheaper to use the wheel sensors from ABS that were intended for traction control, so they implemented them onto the car a year or so early so not as much would be changed when the TCS was added in '95.
Re: Is there Traction control in 94Z28
I read somewhere once, that some 94'as had TSC. Like .03% or something. It was in a firebird book Ihad somewhere. You can do a search of low-trac, it comes on when sliding as mentioned. Somtimes its fun to engage it
Re: Is there Traction control in 94Z28
From my experience, the "LOW TRAC" light on a non-TCS 4th Gen indicates the ABS has activated. There was no form of TCS available on the 94's. It is shown in the dealer brochures, prices are chown in the dealer price lists, but they never actually made it available until 1995.

my 94 has TCS, the dealership I work at the owner bought the vehicle from GM and then the dealership deleted it via a GM bulletin. It has the connections, the fuse, and the button, but no TCS.
