What brand trailer hitch for F-body?

Now before everybody flames me for wanting to put a trailer hitch on my '96 Z28, I have a legit reason. I just bought a small motorcycle trailer (260 lbs.) and want to tow my Yamaha R1 to different track days next season. I figure since the trailer is only 260 lbs. and my bike is ~390 lbs. the Z can more than handle that small amount of weight. My question is what brand trailer hitch are you guys using? What is the maximum tongue weight the f-body can handle? Thanks for any insight!

I have only seen one person on this board that tows with his Camaro. It is a LT1 and he tows a boat with it, but I think he modified his suspension and stuff to do it. His name on the board is Scream And Fly.

No idea what kind of hitch he uses.

I'd recommend a DrawTite class II hitch. Hidden when not in use and it's a nice hitch. I had one on my 95 TA...

I tried to find a link for ya but all I could find were the class I hitches. I know they have a class II for the Camaro because I have one in my garage

I would be interested in something like this too. A Class I wouldn't bother me much, just want to tow my ZX12R. The rear suspension was one thing I wondered about though.

If the rear drops, get some air bags for the springs.

The draw tite hitch for the F bod is a class 1 with a removeable draw bar 1 1/4" hole

It fits more hidden on the trans am since that car has big rear cladding, on the Camaro it hangs down LO! really hangs out!

The owners manual says only 100 lbs of toung weight, and I believe it, I dont think the car can take much more over the rear end, a properly ballenced motor cycle shouldnt be that much.

What kind of exhaust you have may become an issue, you shouldnt have a problem with the stock Z28 system.

Re: What brand trailer hitch for F-body?

I was checking out the different brand hitches last night and I have decided to go with the "hidden hitch" brand. It is a class 1 hitch with 200lb. tongue weight and 2,000lb. tow capacity which is more than enough. I am planning on buying this in the next couple months and will update this thread when I have it installed and some pics up. Thanks for all the replies guys, and that BBQ is out of control!
