Anyone had any luck bleeding an LS1 slave cylinder??
Anyone had any luck bleeding an LS1 slave cylinder??
Just got done with my M6 conversion and I let air get into my hydraulic slave cylinder.
Bruce, at Hawks Third Gen, where I purchused the swap. told me that when air gets into an LS1 slave, then you might as well trash it, because it will never work as good. Car will go into first, scrubs second, no third, fourth is good, no fifth, sixth is good. I know that my tranny is good because I rode in the donar car last week. ( All gears worked fine, no noises.) Ive bled this thing out like 30 times and the same thing, Im getting the fluid through the bleeder screw and its all clear. Still seems to push a little air out....Maybe just a little. PLEASE help me out as this is my daily driver and it has been down for too long! Has anyone had any luck bleeding these things??? My LT1 T56 was way easier to bleed than this LS1.

sure it has enough fluid??
if it had air in it, that means the clutch wouldn't disengage fully...which would affect every gear the same i would think
sounds like something else.
anytime you upgrade the 98-00 slaves to the 01-02 version you have to bleed it. i did...and mine works fine.

Re: Anyone had any luck bleeding an LS1 slave cylinder??
Did you bleed it by pumping the pedal several times and hold or just a couple and hold. About how long did it take you to bleed it out completely?? I spent maybe an hour, but i got ALOT of air into my system....
Re: Anyone had any luck bleeding an LS1 slave cylinder??
pushed it to the floor once....crack the bleed valve...close it...release the pedal.
repeat
did it maybe a half dozen times.
clutch feels fine.
although i have been meaning to bleed it out again, just in case i didn't get it all. but i definatly havn't had any problems that would indicate there is air in it

Did you try a vacuum pump in the master cylinder reservoir also?

Re: Anyone had any luck bleeding an LS1 slave cylinder??
Went out and bought the 02' slave assembly from Hawksthirdgen yesterday and installed it correctly. Had to break the bleeder screw to get it to pop into the slave cylinder in the tranny. Thats the only way I know how to do it with the throwout bearing engaged. Pumped it about 5-10 times and still no 3rd or 5th. what are the chances that this could be a bad trans. Doesnt make any funny noises or anything, just no 3rd or 5th....
