this is a street, strip car with some daily driving. i run the 1/4, 1/8, and street race. i was thinking 4:30's but aint sure. anyone that has ran 4:10 or higher chime in and tell me what yall think. ive ran 4:10's and im going with atleast that, maybe higher!

and thats on a 26 inch tires with 3 73. if you go to 4 30's or 4 10's you will run well out of rpm unless you want to use 5th or go to a 27 or 28 inch tire. I hope you like changing clutches. I should put quick connects on mine.

 

I thought you wanted less gear when running nitrous. I would agree with Sunsceamer, I would 3.73

What size tires and what's the redline? Without that you can't really come up with the correct gear ratio. There's a good chance you will be shifting to 5th with the 4.30s'.

 

hey terry, vince with 4:10's is right at the rev limit in 3rd on the 1/8, and right at rev limit in 4th in the 1/4, that is with 13.3 1/4 and i think mid 8.xx 1/8. seems he is around 105 or 108 mph but dont quote me on the speed. with an extra 150hp i would think you may have a problem running out of gear at the end on the 1/4, you would also be in 4th in the 1/8 mile. seems he was in the low 80 mph range in the 1/8.

I think i would run a 3.42 gear. It is much stronger(were talkin 10 bolts right?) and will allow traction. It will be kind of hard to get any traction at all with 4.10s and n20.

Hes on slicks so I dont think hes having a traction problem and hes running a 12-bolt.

 

Run 4:56's. If you run out of RPM... shift. There is nothing wrong with going into 5th in the 1/4. I had 3:73's and 4:56's (still have both) and I likes 3:73's on the highway, the car "feels" better, but I had a higher top speed with 4:56's they just made the car feel flat after about 100. Remember gears are cheap. If you can't stand a gear set spend $200 and buy another set. Having 2-3 sets of gears is cool, and after you get each one set up it only takes about 30 min to change ratios (12 bolt).

 

there is no problem with going to 5th just like a 3rd gear shift. But it is very hard on a clutch going into OD even at 120+ mph. I am for the track but on the street there is no quarter mile and each person sees the finish at a different spot.

 

Just not into the local car club seen anymore and not interested in fixing the car in a hurry. The few "pro's?" I have talk to say they can do a cam that will get me low 11's . Well I have been 11.15 on a bolt on spray set up and will not put 1500 in the engine to go the same #'s on spray and a little faster on motor.

I have been investing and saving my money and have a 05 636 ninja that is fun a very cheap compared to running a car.

 

i had the exact same mods.... 6 speed bolts ons, 150 shot and i had 4.10 gears and with a 27 inch tall tire it was perfect...... i was goin 11.8 at 118 in full weight.....im not sure if they make the 27 anymore but i may be able to get away with a 4.30 and a 28 inch tire if u rev alittle higher
