3rd gen rear and 11" ZR1's?

How do you guys think the 11" wheels would look bolted up to a 3rd gen rear? Since they're narrower by 1.5" each side or so, and the 11's stick out a bit...

Would they be set IN too far that they'd hit the inner fender/frame? Any ideas? Thanks!

I don't have any experience with this, but I don't think they would fit, due to the reason you suggested.

Check out Skulte Performance Designs..... he has "adapters" for the 3rd Gens. They act as "spacers", but they are much stronger since they bolt directly to the stock hubs, and have a new set of studs for the wheels to bolt to. Not cheap, but they would work.

even with adapters not very good. your best bet would be to massage the inner fenders a bit then it could look good.

There's no way to install them on a 3rd gen without the adapters (unless you want to tub the rear end). And I'd think that you'd still probably need to do some massaging of the wheel well with these adapters.

Why would adapters not work? Without them, the tires are at least 1.5" into the inner fender liners and interfering with the lower control arms and other suspension components. The adapters (some 3rd Gens came with adapters from the factory), sized correctly, would allow you to center them perfectly in the wheel wells. Agree though, as thsoe of use with 4th Gens and 17x11's have done, some hammering may still be necessary.

hammering would absolutely be necessary to fit them properly inside the wheel well completely which was the point. meaning that yes adapters will work obviously but with just adapters and nothing else it won't look good. with some inner massage work and the proper measurements for the right spacing then yes they should fit just fine. if you shoot for a 6.25" backspacing measurement an 11" rim should fit with very little issues. you will have to remove the bumpstop and hammer in the support as this is where the wheel will rub at that backspacing. if you go to a larger backspacing you will need to do more extensive work and if you go smaller then the wheels will stick out.

good luck.

Yeah, but he's trying to put 17x11 ZR1s on a 3rd gen. AFAIK, the ZR1's are only available with an offset/backspace appropriate for 4th gens and 'Vettes. That means that the wheels, as Injuneer said, will be waaaay too far into the wheelwells to work (without the adapters).
