They painted over my decals!

I just got a 1998 Z28. It had just been painted black. But when they painted it they just painted right over the raised decals on the back of the front fenders and on the rear, all the raised decals that say "Z28".
I'm not familiar with the 4th generation, can those raised places be replaced or are they part of the panel? Also, I'm kind of scared of removing the decals to replace them because it might mess up the paint (since they where just painted over.) Maybe I could just carefuly paint the raised part.
Or maybe I shoud just leave it alone..... Hmmm.....Thoughts?

Well........those Z28 emblems are supposed to be black.....that's how they came from the factory on all the 4th gens, no matter what color they are.

Are you sure they've been painted over? They are black plastic, you know.

If they did, that's kinda weird. Don't pull them off, you'll screw everything up and it'll look horrible. What color did you want the badges to be?

If you're trying to change it, go with the best. Brent Franker's vinyl overlays kick ass. :)

Order those, clean the badges up with rubbing alcohol, and put the overlays on.

OK, I didn't know they were supposed to be black!
I know the car has been painted recently because it has 90K miles and looks spotless on the outside, and the door key-ways are black (they would have been scratched up after all this time. No keyless entry.). Plus, it smells a little painty...LOL. Also, I saw one place on an edge where they messed up and left it rough...not very noticeable.

Is the badge spot on the very front of the front bumper supposed to not have a Chevy badge also? My front bumper badge is missng. I just figured they replaced the front bumper because it is spotless with not one knick or scratch...after 90K miles.

Take it back to the shop. That was a major screw up. The badge is an aggressive stick-on that can be removed. The shop was negligent in properly removing the decals that would've been necessary for a satisfactory paint job.

It is unacceptable IMO. No offense intended if you or a friend performed the painting. However, the right way it should've been done was how I described it.

There isn't a bowtie on your car. The LT1 cars had a bowtie, but all you poor LS1 owners get is an ugly Fisher Price plastic panel ;)

You can buy a nice replacement for that from SLP though. Complete with a nifty bowtie and in glossy black finish, to get rid of the Fisher Price look. :D

My badges never showed any aggression. I never got them drunk though, so who knows.

I thought that the black cars had red badges? My buddy's black SS has red ones. I read somewhere that black SS's had red badges, and all other colors had black. Is this not the same for Z28's?

Right, that does not apply to Z28s. All Z28 badges were black plastic.
