Remote Bottle Opener problems

I just purchased and installed a NOS 14168 remote bottle opener in my car.

I ran the wiring basically like the diagrams and instructions call for, with one adjustment.

The instructions call for 12v ignition switched power to go into the switch, then from the switch on the the control box for the opener. I actually ran it from the main 12v ignition switched power into my main nitrous arm, then out of that to the input side of the bottle opener switch. This makes it so my main nitrous switch has to be on in order for the bottle to open. Keeps me from accidentally opening the bottle. Other than this one minor difference, every other wire is connected properly.

Now for the problem...

The opener is acting opposite how it should. So when the switch is 'off', the bottle is opening, and when it's 'on' it's closing.

I've tried everything but reversing the polarity on the motor itself so far in attempts to get it working as it should.

Anyone have ideas?

reverse the polarity of the wires going to the motor.

reverse the polarity of the wires going to the motor.

I've considered that. But hate to cut the NOS wiring. I tried to get the wires out of the harness they supplied, but don't have the tool necessary, so I can't.

Why don't you just switch the wires on the switch??

Tried that. When swapping the 12v input and the ground and turning the switch 'on', the opener will run and a few seconds later it will run again.

I think I'll measure the voltage coming out of the electronics box tomorrow when the switch is on and off, to see what happens.
