air bag light on after spinning steering wheel when it wasnt hooked up
air bag light on after spinning steering wheel when it wasnt hooked up
Ok yeah so a while ago i had the steering shaft disconected and decided to spin the wheel around a whole bunch (why not)
So now my air bags dont work and someone said before that it was because of the spinning.
So what did i break and how do i replace it

I also have an airbag light on w/abs light too. Not b/c of spinning the wheel just came on after I installed my scanmaster. Its got me baffled.. scanmaster does not pickup abs codes. Also checked my wheel sensors and they looked normal. all brake lights work also..
Re: air bag light on after spinning steering wheel when it wasnt hooked up
Ya you definitly f'ed up the clockspring. Make sure you dissconnect the battery before you go messing with the air bag though.
Re: air bag light on after spinning steering wheel when it wasnt hooked up
The easy part is getting the airbag/steering wheel off. The "fun" part is snaking the harness attached to the clock spring all the way up the steering column! It's not a cheap part either; somewhere around $95 - $125.
Chr10spoke: Your issue might be a bad ground. Clean the ground post of the passenger side fender (next to the plastic red positive cap).

Re: air bag light on after spinning steering wheel when it wasnt hooked up
ok so i take out the 4 bolts on the back of the steering wheel (unhook battery for 15 min) pull the airbag off then pull the steering wheel off.
now what am i looking for (the coil) is it in the steering wheel or on the shaft.

That was some expensive spinning you did.
I guess now you know "why not".
Item #3 is what you ripped the wires out of.
