First Camaro
First Camaro
Greetings,
I'm currently living in Edinburgh, Scotland and about to embark on an american venture in buying a car. Looked at a few mustangs but they go for a premium and apparantly the older ones aren't very good. I've come across two Camaros, a 5.7 Z28 and a more british petrol friendly 3.8 V6. Both have the t-top.
The 3.6 (built 2000) is £11,750 ($21,263.96) Trade and the Z28 (built 1999) is £8,500 ($15,381.77).
Apart from the obvious differences in engine power is it worth becoming friendly with an oil shiek to get the Z28 or would you really only notice the difference on the track (something which i'm not interested in)
Oh and $6.59 is the average price of a gallon of petrol here so tell me the 3.8 isn't bad.
Cheers
Pete

Re: First Camaro
I've owned both, and I like both of them a lot. I would say test drive them both and see which one you like better. The 3.8 is very spirited for a V6, but it can't compare with the 5.7 on power and handling. Also, the 5.7 LS1 gets a lot better gas mileage than most people would think. The numbers compared to the 3.8 aren't that far and so it really comes down to which one you like more. As I said before, drive them both and see which one fits you better! Good luck, and welcome to the board!
EDIT: I just found the EPA fuel ratings for the Camaro's you mentioned above. The 3.8 was rated at City: 19 and Highway: 28. While the 5.7 was rated at City: 18 and Highway: 27. As you can see, the 5.7 is almost identical to the 3.8 in fuel mileage. Hope this information helps!
