I don't really like how carbon fiber looks on cars. But to each his own.

And yeah, that is alot for a hood.

a good true SS hood is almost that much money. Can you imagine how much lighter it would be over a stock metal hood (like mine) Painted no-one would know either. It would have to weigh in at least half of what a true fiberglass SS hood would weigh. I'ts all about lbs/hp anyway isn't it?

I've been looking at that for a few months. I think it would be neat to paint all but the scoop body color and leave it CF.

And yes, you can paint carbon fiber.

As others have stated about exotics, you can paint CF. However, you need some kind of special primer so you don't see the pattern showing through the paint. It needs to be a body shop that really knows what it is doing.

Alot of my freinds cars (race cars) have CF bodys.. most of em look like hell painted up.. even the best painters get massive pits in the material.. and If yours getting CF and painting it.. might as well get Fiberglass. You have to use so much paint and primer on CF it weights So close to what the Fglass would weight when your done.. If your getting CF.. leave it that way.. other wise the Fiberglass hood is better for ya.. and it dosent cost a Gnote

that is pretty cool. And it's true, it all comes down to power to weight ratio when you think about it (check out the Lotus Elise)

Carbon Fiber, like fiberglass can be painted. You simply use a high build primer, which is used on fiberglass hoods that haven't been made well to get rid of the waves in it (if the waves aren't bad) and als on fiberglass parts that were made off male molds or without a mold.
There's no secret. it's not hard, anybody who knows how to paint should be able to use it and should know about it.
