Is it safe to sandblast aluminum wheels?

I have a set of Enkei Win wheels that are powdercoated black with the polished lip. The powdercoating is chipping and is lookin' like crap. What can I use to safely strip this off without pitting the aluminum?

Also, what is a good method of bringing the luster back if superficial damage occurs? Alot of polishing I would suppose.

you have to sandblast powdercoating, otherwise you will have a reaaaaaaly hard time getting the powdercoating off.
Yes it is safe to sandblast them.

Bead blasting would be much safer on aluminum.

Find someone who does soda blasting, it leaves a baby smooth finish.
Dont sand blast them unless you want a textured look when painted.

All they are trying to say is don't use "sand" use a blasting "media" that's softer so it won't take off too much aluminum.
