Question Can I use any c5 parts on my LT1?

My cousin wrecked his 01 c5 at track and is stripping it as his insurance isn't covering. Not to worry...it was daddy's car! He is letting me take parts, but can I even use anything from it?

Take that motor and pcm baby!

I would take anything and everything you could. Sell what you can't use on Ebay and the 'net.

I remember working with a guy that had a corvette engine in his LT1 f-body camaro. That thing was pretty fast.

Has anyone tried to put an LS1 in an 93-97? Must be a huge PITA? OK so the list so far.....wheels, brakes, seats, MAF, steering wheel (hell of alot nicer), shifter/****. I realize you can probably make anything fit, I'm looking for the easy "out with the old..in with the new"

if you put a ls1 in a lt1 car you have to do a front end conversion before you can even think about making it work, the ls1 is partialy the reason why the front end on the 98-02 cars changed

Would the steering wheel work with the old airbag? The Vette uses a different shape for the airbag cover. I don't think it would work if you wanted to keep the airbag, which you should.

I am almost positive that all you need is at least a 2 1/2 in cowl hood to make up for clearance of the ls1. Everything else should be straight forward swap.

Transmission wise...would the LS1 swap force me to change to an LS1 tranny, then clutch, bellhousing exhaust...etc.

Re: Can I use any c5 parts on my LT1?

The tranny is different, different bellhousings and possibly input shafts? not sure. The slave cylinder is different as well. not sure about the clutch, crossmember and stuff like that. you would need some LS1 headers/manifolds and y-pipe too

as far as the whole front end conversion, that is incorrect. You'd need a hood with more clearence, but the front end would be fine.
