700r4-RPM's shoot sky high after 90mph...

Today i was going about 70 and went to pass a car, i floored the pedal and accelerated for a second....then all of a suddent the rpm's shot way past red line like it popped into neutral.

Then later i held it floored until about 80 and everything went fine until it all of a sudden the rpm shot up like it went into neutral.

I dont know what the problem is, but it seems like whenever i'm just cruising in 4th gear (overdrive) when it downshifts it cant control itself and the rpm's just fly until i let off the gas, then it goes back to 4th.

Wow it sounds like your trans is about to bite the dust. That's what happened to me, I was doing about 75 and I stepped on it to speed up to get around someone and it was like I shifted into neutral. Had to pull off the highway. I let it cool down for a while, but it only shifted into third one more time after that, then it was done.
