I own a 94 Z-28 LT1 Auto Tranny. My question is: How much rear end fluid and Tranny fluid are you suppose to put in after you change the fluids?

Till they're full. More specificly... Fill the rear end untill it is at the bottom of the fill hole. About 3.5 pints. Fill the tranny till it's the right level on the dipstick with the engine warm and running. Not exactly sure how much it takes to refill after a drain, but the tranny holds 10 pints all together. You won't even come close to putting in 10 quarts though.

Also, make sure that you use the equa-torque additive for LSD rears. Without it, bad stuff can happen to that rear end of yours.

Hey BLinindoll, just so you know, no 4th gens came with factory 3.73s, like you said in your sig. It was either 2.73 or 3.23, depending on the option when purchased. :)

RPO code GT4 actually. Right on the inside of the glove box. Factory codes don't lie.

Just rebbuilt a 97 4L60E (tranny) and it took 11 quarts total for the fill. My teacher recommends 4 quarts without starting, and when you go to put the 5-11 quarts in, you have the car started.

Right, but when your just draining the tranny, only a fraction of the fluid comes out. For example, the torque convertor holds about 3 to 4 quarts which doesn't come out when you just drain the tranny. When you do a total rebuild the tranny is dry and you have to put it ALL back in, including filling the torque convertor.

In which case the specs from A-zone state that 5-6 quarts should be used. Sorry, should have stated that before.

Does Royal Purple have the additive that you are talking about here?
So 2 quarts for the rear end and 6 quarts for the tranny?
Im gonna do all of it this weekend and was really needing to know how many quarts of rear end and tranny fluid to buy

3 quarts of rear end (castrol makes one for additive for limited slip) and 6 or 7 quarts of tranny. Extra never hurt anyone.
