Where is Caddy's Coupe going to fit in all this?

Ok.. we hear that the Colorado rear setup will be used for the Camaro (I know nothing is final yet but it is just an assumption at this point)..

Well wasn't the Cadillac Coupe CTC supposed to be here as well at the same time. (I believe Mark LeNeve confirmed it in Autoweek) but anyways the Coupe should most probablly be based off a modified SIGMA or the all new SIGMA.

Is this the same architecture that Camaro would be based on?
(Architecture here being the base platform with separate attachments as required.)

I am 100% sure that Caddy won't settle for an ancient setup like the Colorado correct.. so that assumes that the platform is "Capable" of both setups one ancient with a live axle and one with an IRS, correct?

Can Team Camaro figure a way to propose to the beancounters to just use the IRS for the higher end Camaro?

Can anyone shed some light on any of this.. I''m just trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together and this just doesn't seem to fit anywhere.. Charlie?? Gui???

This car has flown very much under the radar... CTS is due for a freshening / re-do in MY2008 I believe... the coupe, if it happens, would probably be part of this launch.

This should be very exciting, especially seeing the first freshening or re-do of an A&S theme...

CTC would be the same car as a CTS, just with 2 less doors.

I see what you are saying but what I'm trying to figure out is What architecture would this “2-door” caddy be on? Will it be the new SIGMA or will GM use it with the architecture that is more suited for coupes???

Right now, a Caddy coupe is simply an idea.

Afew years ago, GM created a smaller Sigma based "3 series fighter" coupe proposal for Cadillac. They proved it could be done...but didn't have support for production.

One thing for sure, if "Zeta-lite" ends up being front struts and a truck based solid axle.....Caddy will not touch it with a 1,000 ft pole.

And they shouldn't touch it either, the standard of the world has the Best and only the Best. There is no 'good enough' for Caddy.

I'm still not quite convinced that this car will have front struts or not be made IRS capable.

The thing that keeps on coming up with this "Zeta-lite" is that it has to cover a wide range of vehicles, from AWD to IRS to "lower cost" performance vehicles.

Seems it's going to still be modular, even if it isn't called Zeta.

So we are looking at a plug and play friendly IRS, SLA, AWD, SRA, Strut Front, sedan/crossover/low slung coupe capable chassis. Maybe Zeta will be a mid level platform with Zeta lite and Kappa at the bottom and Sigma at the top.

This thing sounds very complex.

Anything might happen.

My biggest fear......my doomesday scenario....is that someone will actually make the case for a 2010 Camaro which is mechanically similar to a 1982 Camaro.

It could happen...and it gives me the chills.

That would be "doomsday" .......even for me.

Realistically, at worst I'd expect a 2008 Camaro suspended like the '94 version but with more structural ridgity from one of the 2 chassis already available.

At best, a Kappa based one.

That sounds very good too me. THe Kappa plant has enough capacity to build 100,000 of them too.
