Where to get longer wheel studs?

Where can I get longer wheel studs? What specific size do I need? It's just a regular 95 transam.

Re: Where to get longer wheel studs?

Why do you need longer studs? That would allow us to recommend the required length.

Lingenfelter sells a 2.67" 12mm x 1.5 stud with the correct knurl for the factory hubs. The only problem with them is they don't look like the picture.... in addition to the 2.67" of thread, there is about 0.60" of unthreaded end on the stud, to facilitate sliding the wheel over the studs. Just barely NHRA legal for the Weld "extra long shank mag-style" lugs that are used on the Pro-Stars, for example. Makes it a bit of a problem to use them for you street wheels.

I believe you can get similar studs form the GM Performance Parts catalog, and from ARP.

Re: Where to get longer wheel studs?

my wheels rub in the inner fender well. They are 2K 5 star chrome vette wheels. I've pounded the heck out of them and they still rub, I want to get about 5/16" spacers but I will need longer studs. So, where can I get them and what size do I need?

You should be OK with the ARP 12mm-1.5 2.5" long, 0.509" knurl studs. Part # 100-7708. Available in packs of 5 from Summit or JEG's. The LPE or GMPP studs would stick out way too far, because of the long unthreaded end.

ok thanks buddy. Do you know where I can get spacers? Jegs has them but I'm not sure if they will fit, all they say is (5 lug fits bolt patterns from 4.5"-5"). Will these work?

Re: Where to get longer wheel studs?

Those are "loose" spacers.... just float on the studs because of oversize oval holes to fit multiple bolt circles. NHRA requires that you use a spacer that is "centered" by the studs or the hub, not loose. Skulte makes spacers that meet specs. The others are OK for light duty use, and probably fairly difficult for "tech" to detect at the track. Depends on how safe you want to play it.

I'm not too worried about the NHRA but I do want to be safe. Where can I find the ones Skulte makes? Are they expensive?

Re: Where to get longer wheel studs?

Definatly get the good set of spacers. I had a set of "universal" spacers for C5 thin spokes last winter and they cracked. Then I had the pieces fall out from behind the wheel which in-turn broke all 5 of my studs and the back passenger wheel fell off. The body (fenderwell actually) landed on the wheel. Luckily, no damage was done to the car from this. Just something to think about. Btw, I had to use longer studs in the back too. I just went to Advanced Auto and they had some longer studs in stock that worked.
