Good run with a newer powerstroke diesel today.

I was driving the 96 z vert today and came up on a newer black powerstroke 7.3 truck I passed him on double lane highway and then he decided he didn't like that or wanted to play.He nailed it in the mirror and guess was going for the jump and I punched it right away too.For a second it seemed that the truck was almost doing something but he vert just pulled away and put serious carlengths on the truck.By about time I hit 200km/hr he shut it down and he was far back. And he was trying.
Now what do these trucks have for hp stock and what do they quartermile at ?

Current mods on the 96 z are magnaflow catback,3.42 gears A4,airfoil,air induction,tb bypass, granatelli maf and maft translator.Thats it.Car today ran multiple tazzo runs this morning at 14.0 range at about 99.9 mph but tazzo was about 3mph higher than our track when I tested it.Et was a tenth faster.
I was getting 60fts of about 2.3 average.
At local track car ran 14.3 at 96mph with 2.18 60ft but had a bad headwind that day.And its cooler today than track run it was about 70 at track and only 45 to 50 today.

Anyway I had fun putting the smack down on this nice looking big honking truck.I have heard they can be very fast.We were racing from 100 to 200km an hr so would that give me the advantage due to my better aerodynamics.

He is just lucky I didn't have my new mods installed ,zex wet,CC305 and 1.6 pro mags, vig 2800 and asp balancer underdrive.
Course maybe I am lucky he didnt' have more mods.
For some reason I get my biggest thrills when kill trucks and imports, well hondas actually. As you can see from my sig I sort of have an import too.

i think they have like 235 hp but with a $200 chip they add like 80 hp and 120 tq which is a very common mod for those trucks with that chip I'd say they run probably like high 14 to mid 15.

Re: Good run with a newer powerstroke diesel today.

I raced my buddy's 2003 Powerstroke at a 1000ft track in my 6-speed TA. He's got the new International 6.0L 32 valve V8 with variable geometry turbo and all. He launched that thing in 4x4 and did he ever get the jump on me. I got a pretty good launch but he had two lengths on me almost right off the line, rightly so for a truck that launches like it got rear-ended by an Apollo rocket. I was pulling him hard up top and we crossed the line nose to nose. Can't remember who won - I'll have to dig up the timeslips for that one. My MPH was way higher though as expected because of better aerodynamics and no 4x4 drag. I imagine he would have smoked me launching on slicks in 4x2. For what it's worth, all the truck was running was a Diablo programmer in 100 hp mode and no muffler. That gave the truck a total of about 425 hp and 700-800 lbs of torque. Not bad for a 7000 lbs farm truck.

Theres one in my town that has a banks turbo kit on it. It sounds like a jet engine when he gets on it . I have'nt had the oppertunity to meet up at a stoplight yet to see how it goes. I heard he said he could beat this other guys blown 5.0 that has gone 12.0. I doubt it can go quicker than that though. He's never ran a car or truck at the track.
