RBE17 03-29-2005, 09:08 PM Is there a group purchase for Walbro 255 or 340 pumps going on anywhere ? Who else is interested in a GP ? I'd be interested in the complete Racetronix kit. Later, Steve. Full Throttle Speed 03-30-2005, 04:02 PM We just finished the direct fit LT1 pump kit and the LS1 kit is 95% done. These kits have all the fittings and connections including the connection for the jet pump (venturi feed) on LS1 cars. We are finishing up the install instructions for the LT1 now and will put those on special when we do. LS1's as soon as they are done. "hot wire harnesses" are in production as well. With the Racetronix kit, do you have to use the fuel pump that comes with the kit, I know you can buy the wiring harness by itself...but what are the advantages of using your pump. I have already committed to buying a buddies walboro 255 that is brand new. John Racetronix 03-31-2005, 12:37 AM With the Racetronix kit, do you have to use the fuel pump that comes with the kit, I know you can buy the wiring harness by itself...but what are the advantages of using your pump. I have already committed to buying a buddies walboro 255 that is brand new. John An off-the-shelf Walbro pump can not be substituted for our pump. The advantages of our pump assembly are: "The LT1 F-body cars have a pump that is inside a plastic fill-bucket. The fill-bucket's inlet and check-valve system in combination with the fuel pump are designed to draw fuel from the bottom of the tank via suction. This keeps the bucket full at all times and the pump fully immersed in fuel regardless of the tank level so that when the tank is low on gas and you are doing some hard cornering or acceleration the pump does not run dry and start aerating (air bubbles) the fuel. This happens as the fuel sloshes from side to side in the tank leaving the center low on fuel. The F-LT1 cars have minimal to no baffling in them. This can cause detonation and possible engine damage. The bucket also allows the car to operate with lower fuel levels in the tank due to its scavenging effect. The bucket can also effect motor cranking time as the priming time is reduced under certain conditions. The return line from the fuel pressure regulator is diverted back into the bucket via a filter sock inside so that the unused fuel also helps keep the bucket full at all times. Keeping the pump constantly immersed in gas within the bucket can extend the pump's life by not allowing it to be exposed to open air. Open air within the tank contains moisture and in time will cause the pump to rust / seize up especially if left to sit for long periods of time without the tank topped-up (i.e. winter storage). The Racetronix pump assembly is modified so that it will seal in the bucket’s rubber check-valve so that its function is retained. The Racetronix pump assembly is fitted with a factory style fuel tube not a rubber hose. This hose is important as when the fuel module is placed back in the tank it must pivot which can cause the rubber hose to kink. This fuel tube is much more resistant to the solvents in today’s gas and it will not crack, split, swell and collapse like a rubber hose. The standard Walbro kit comes with a short length of 50PSIA rated rubber hose. The Racetronix fuel module is equipped with a one-piece soldered wiring harness made from mil spec. 14 gauge Teflon/silver wire. (upgraded from the factory's 16 gauge unsoldered harness) This is the same type of wire used at the factory as Teflon is the most resistant to deterioration when exposed to gas. This harness has a Walbro connector at one end and GM pins at the other which fit directly inside the factory connector. Due to the age of the F-LT1 cars much of the in-tank connectors are black / corroded due to age. The Racetronix harness replaces all these questionable components. The standard Walbro kit comes with a plastic coated in-line wiring adapter. This adapter must plug into the existing questionable factory in-tank wiring thereby adding additional connections and length." For more information please see our ad: http://www.racetronix.com/Racetronix-F-body_LT1_Pump_Kit.html We will see if one of our dealers who sponsors this forum is willing to run a special. Thunder Racing and Combination both sponsor this forum and are Racetronix dealers. Randy Molkentine 04-01-2005, 11:06 AM That would be awesome...cash in hand! Randy Molkentine 04-11-2005, 05:32 PM Well I do intend to order, and its nice to hear that some of us dont have any problems coming up with the $200, but the GP runs until the 15th and I get paid on the 14th. If people are in such a hurry to get it then maybe a GP isnt the way to go for them since you are waiting on others right? Randy, I realize everyone's financial situation is different. The point I was trying to make was that we had 10 people commit. Thunder Racing and Racetronix took the time to set the GP up and people ordered and are counting on it. Now it's less than a week before it ends and we only have four orders. If we don't get the 10 orders it's a bust. Our vendors will have lost valuable time they could've used filling or shipping other orders and the folks that counting on the GP price might've passed on a better deal. Everyone losses if the people that committed don't hold up their end. That's all I was trying to say. Later, Steve. Randy Molkentine 04-11-2005, 09:56 PM Well the sale started on the 6th and its only the 11th so try and stay calm until the 15th, and see what happens. So look for email from Fireboy425@aol.com :) We have an update for the harness coming so you may want to send a request by the middle of the week. pennys58 04-18-2005, 12:36 AM Do you have to pull the whole tank or can you trap door it to install the pump and harness? Racetronix 04-18-2005, 12:47 AM Do you have to pull the whole tank or can you trap door it to install the pump and harness? The TD method has been debated over and over again on this forum. We do not recommend the TD method for two reasons. 1) Cutting into the metal above the tank can be very hazardous. 2) The fuel tank should be thoroughly cleaned before installing a new pump. Walbro no longer offers the same 'no questions asked' warranty. If you don't flush the tank you are taking a gamble on your own. Most F-LT1 tanks need a good cleaning given their age. RBE17 04-18-2005, 07:37 AM Best news I've heard all day!! Thanks Thunder Racing, Racetronix, and everyone that got in on this great deal!! I'd also like to thank TR & Racetronix for this GP. John Racetronix 04-21-2005, 02:16 AM I must apologize guys. I am running behind on the new manual for the new Racetronix F-LT1 harness. Some people have e-mailed us for a manual but did not state if it was for the pump assembly alone or the complete system. If you bought the pump assembly by itself please state this so we can send you the temporary manual. If you require a manual for the harness and the pump assembly please sit tight for another day. The new manual for the harness (rev 1) will be ready in a day or two. It is very nice and easy to follow with color pictures. The manual for the old harness will not work with the new harnesses we are shipping as there has been a change to the configuration which involves the RX-FLT1-FSCS parts bag. I am keeping a list of inquiries and the manual will be sent out in PDF format. Once you receive the manual please feel free to send your comments, recommendations or pictures to support@racetronix.com. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Yep, thanks :0 dreamer1q 04-30-2005, 11:10 AM Out of curiousity, why do you have to ask for directions? Isnt that something you normally put in with the pump setup? That is the strangest directions setup I have ever seen. Just wonder what the logic is behind doing it that way. BTW, the manual is good, got it done and installed last night. I paid full price, so hope I didnt count toward the GP :) Racetronix 04-30-2005, 07:28 PM Out of curiousity, why do you have to ask for directions? The person installing the fuel pump system should have a GM service manual as well.
