LaNeve goes on record that GM's plan is to begin to drop incentives and lower MSRPs

Marketing and sales chief Mark LaNeve also told TheCarConnection he plans to pull back on incentives, using them more as a deal closer, rather than a come-on. Instead, GM will trim back prices, especially on future models, to make them more competitive. At least, that's the goal.

It will be interersting to see how this is phased in.

TrailBlazer was the first to have an MSRP rollback if I remember right...???

I know a lot of people here have been calling for this move, so it looks like this an official acceptance of that strategy.

Obviously they didn't start with the GP GXP which starts at 30K, optioned out past 35K and already has a $2,000 rebate on it.

looked at a 04 monte ss s/c at the dealer today. MSRP was 43k marked down to 31k. Mustang GTs start at 32k.

Good. Cause the rebate specials were cheapening GM's image. It seemed gimmicky. And even with all the specials, the msrp probably scared away a lot of consumers who aren't aware of GM's pricing strategy.

Exactly, not to mention the percieved resale values show a huge percentage drop.

Retarded marketing, but necessary I guess at the time to keep the UAW working.... Because GM would have to pay the UAW if they stopped production anyway.
