hello i have a 01 ss m6 with 17k miles.i tool it out for a drive today and at about 4500 or 5000 rpm there was a major vibe felt like from in front of the shifter area,it was so bad that i couldnt keep the car in a straight line.i put a b&m short throw in about 6 months ago and thats making alot of noise now.will the shifter void my warranty?also at idle with the clutch out theres a noise sounds like a lite grinding from under the car when i push the clutch in the noise stops.if you guys and gals could offer some advice that would be great.

Well, if the problem seems to be coming from or near the shifter, the dealer will most likely give you a hard time about fixing it under warranty.

If I were you, I would install the stock shifter back in. If the problem continues, take it to the dealer, and don't let them know that you once had an aftermarket shifter installed.

 

Short throw shifters just make noise like that, its how they are...The vibration could be a out of balance driveshaft..

 

Is it only at those RPMs, or is it at a specific speed regardless of the engine. Speed window (between 2 speeds) related vibrations are tires out of balance. If the vibration starts at a speed and goes up till the redline (or you don't feel like a major ticket), that is more likely a driveshaft.

 

The same thing happens with my dirtbike, and my neighbors 2001 Suzuki GSXR 750. I think its normal, at least on the bikes it is. I dont think ya hafta worry about it
