I need to install an A-pillar pod, but really don't want to drill any holes. It only has one pod for a 2 1/16 inch gauge, so it's very light. Is double sided tape strong enough to hold it up?

Attaching A-pillar pod with tape?Mullet Z28 03-10-2005, 03:11 PM I need to install an A-pillar pod, but really don't want to drill any holes. I used it on my set-up, but then I added two screws anyway for added measure. Also make sure you prep up the area that the tape will go on. Z95m6 03-10-2005, 03:27 PM I'm holding up my heavy metal 69 Z28 emblems on my car with double sided tape. The gauge pod may not weigh much but some gauges can be considerably heavy. I would try the tape and if it doesn't work go with the screws. Mullet Z28 03-10-2005, 05:26 PM Yes 3m makes a good strong tape. Do I need to go to the hardware store to get the stuff, or do they have it at Walmart? Thanks for the help guys. They might have it at wal-mart in the auto, or hardware section. If not try like pep boys. Mullet Z28 03-11-2005, 01:53 PM Thanks for all the help! DrewHMS97SS 03-11-2005, 05:17 PM i dont see why it matters at you will need to drill holes to run the wires down the pillar. A new pillar is only 20-30 if you find a used one. I didn't have to drill a hole for the wires to run threw. I used a coat hanger and guide the wire on the side of the dash / bottom of the a-pillar without cracking anything. The remaining wire (about 2 inches) that was exposed got covered with black wire loom. If your going to go through the trouble of installing the guage pods, do it right and leave nothing exposed. Like was suggested before, those A pillar molding are seriously a dime a dozen. Just go to the salvage yard and pick one up. No biggie if you need to get a new one some time down the road. As far as whether to velcro/tape/or screw the piece on, I guess thats up to you, But wires hanging out look bad, and "cheapen" the whole install. :yuck: funina91ss 03-12-2005, 02:31 PM ahh just screw it :o | ||
