Bob says, next gen BLS would be available here...
Re: Bob says, next gen BLS would be available here...
I like the styling, but I think it would be a mistake for Cadillac to bring in a FWD car again (I know DTS is still FWD, but it is the last remaining old car, even if it is freshened)... especially one built on a platform shared with a Malibu and a G6...
After all the hard work they have done to change their image, I think this would be a mistake. The Cimmaron comparisions would be inevitable, whether they would be justified or not.
Just my .02.

I think that the BLS is a handsome car for what it’s worth.. it’s just the FWD that gets me…. I don’t know how Acura gets away with it but I’m not sure if FWD would work with Caddy trying to re-do it’s image.
On a side note that Interior looks really gorgeous.. I wish it would be the CTS’ interior in terms of design, layout etc. It almost looks as good as, dare I say it, the Acura TL

Yep, I'll throw my hat in the ring and say I dont want to see a non-DTS fwd Caddy. I wonder if they'd be able to get a car styled like this onto a Kappa base?

Brand overlap-osis.
The BLS makes Buick, Saturn and Pontiac even less viable.
You can go straight from Chevrolet to Cadillac now economically. Since the appliances (Chevrolet) span such a huge range of prices -$10,000 to +$30,000, and the status symbols (Cadillacs) basically start at around $30,000.
Tough spot for any of the other marketing divisions to be in. Ford's been trying to compete with Chevrolet for 100 years and even with the entire resources of the company devoted to the effort, only run neck and neck. How's little old Buick going to stand up to Cadillac on the one end or Chevrolet on the other???
My suggestion?
Kill Saturn and turn Chevrolet into a Saturn-like experience.

I'd rather see smaller replacement for the CTS....something that better competes with the 3 series and C-class.....and could be sold internationally.

I would bet what was planned as the next CTS (3 series size) will be renamed BTS or BLS and they CTS (5-series) will grow up a bit as will the STS. Right now a lot of people talk about the CTS being between the two sizes and this way it would settle the debate about is it midsize of compact.

Size was the CTS is closer to the 5 series than the 3 series.
