Just wanna double check

OK I just want to double check this... When I'm driving on the highway and go to brake slightly the steering wheel as well as the front of the car starts to shake... Last time this happened I needed to get the rotors shaved. I have new rotors waiting in my garage to be put on. Basically what my question is it time to replace the rotors, or do i still have time... Mind you the shakin only occurs while braking from (60+ mph)... Driving around slower then that and u don't really notice it.

Sounds like warped rotors. You don't have to be in a rush to replace them if you don't want to.

Ok thanks, that's what I figured it was. I just didn't want to replace them just yet. I want to run them until I need to replace them.

I wouldn't rush to replace them, but I wouldn't wait 6 months either.

Re: Just wanna double check

Just get them turned and see if that helps. If not, it will only get worse as time goes by.

I just put in new pads and rotors in the front. At almost 68K I still had the original pads and rotors. There was still about 15-20% of the pad left, but the shaking was starting to get out of hand. Literally!

Time to swap out the rears this coming weekend. At about 100 bucks for ceramic pads and two rotors from AutoZone, you can't go too wrong, IMO.

Yeah I got the new rotors waiting in my garage. I just want to make sure that these rotors are done before I go replacing them.

I planned to drive until the pads were gone and were grinding metal to metal with the rotor, but I had to give up.

Now it's smooth sailing all the way.

Why did you give up?

Because the shaking when braking from higher speeds started to get quite scary.

Re: Just wanna double check

Mic them. If they still have meat left, get them turned. Save the new rotors for when they no longer can be turned.
