I love it! I kind of wish they did something different with the rear though. Maybe a small lip spoiler or something. Josh452 01-04-2005, 07:05 PM Keep the link. Over on AutoBlog.com there is a response from the editor of AutoWeek who did this on purpose. CLEAN 01-04-2005, 08:37 PM I like the steering wheel much better! scott9050 01-04-2005, 09:30 PM Very sweet indeed. guionM 01-04-2005, 09:35 PM Keep the link. Over on AutoBlog.com there is a response from the editor of AutoWeek who did this on purpose. The Dodge Charger pics have been in MPH Magazine for the past 2 weeks (Barnes & Noble carries it). If the Z06 is new to anyone, you've been living under a rock since before Christmas. I understand the reasons he released them, and I agree. However, little independent writers like me have to obey the embargo, and it doesn't bother me when someone else (with more "juice") jumps the gun. I'm just glad to be a part of the "early preview folks". :) stereomandan 01-04-2005, 09:57 PM Incredible!!! I think I love every detail. Dan CLEAN 01-05-2005, 07:27 AM Heyyyyy, wait a minute..... Compare... http://www.autoweek.com/files/specials/2005_detroit/chevy/z06/images/X06CH_CR026.jpg with this... http://www.cheersandgears.com/g6_vert/3.jpg Darth Xed 01-05-2005, 08:19 AM Heyyyyy, wait a minute..... Compare... http://www.autoweek.com/files/specials/2005_detroit/chevy/z06/images/X06CH_CR026.jpg with this... http://www.cheersandgears.com/g6_vert/3.jpg Ya, all the people who complained that the C6 ripped off the Malibu wheel (which it didn't) get to have the stock Pontiac wheel in the Z06 now. :irk: It's like 1977, when they stuck a Nova wheel in the Corvette. Darth Xed 01-05-2005, 09:14 AM And to make it even more common, it's also the wheel used in the 2006 Pontiac Torrent SUV: http://www.lifeinwidescreen.com/upload/PV__022291__.jpg And to top it off, the Pontiac's get the duplicate radio controls on the wheel, and the Z06 does not. Darth Xed 01-05-2005, 11:52 AM OK, let's add another vehicle to the list: HHR has the same wheel as the 2006 Corvette and Z06 now too: http://autodeadline.com/detail?source=&mid=WKA2005010177952&mime=JPG So, we have our $50k plus sprts car flagship sharing a steering wheel with: HHR, G6, Torrent, Soltice, and I wonder how many more. And top it off with the fact that the $15k-$25k cars get the radio controls, and apparently, the $50k+ flagship does not. :irk:  Mushasi 01-05-2005, 11:54 AM I still can't get over the overly huge steering in our LS-1 cars that we shared with Monte Carlos. When I had my '92 RS and the '02 at the same time, I loved driving the '92 better, simply because it had smaller steering wheel. Bob Cosby 01-05-2005, 12:39 PM The only thing I don't like about it is the headlights....I just can't get used to em. Looks like a jellow-jacket (wasp) coming at me. I noticed the thread on the Z06 specs disappeared. Is PacerX banned now. :p PacerX 01-05-2005, 12:43 PM I noticed the thread on the Z06 specs disappeared. Is PacerX banned now. :p Had to happen sooner or later... Bob Cosby 01-05-2005, 12:43 PM LOL. Ya, and btw...I meant LS7 specs...not Z06. :) PacerX 01-05-2005, 12:51 PM LOL. Ya, and btw...I meant LS7 specs...not Z06. :) I'm not even gonna ask why. Autoweek's NAIAS site has them up. Maybe it's just a mistake or something... 'cause like it or not, embargo's over guys and gals. CLEAN 01-05-2005, 04:25 PM Well, if you're gonna share a wheel, at least its a good looking one. Guess I'll have to get away from my 6 o'clock cruising position ;) . Also, a thing about the steering wheel controls...I read somewhere that Dave Hill said it was because it was a true sportscar and true sportscars don't have such things, but then went on about C6's DVD system, heated seats, keyless ignition, and electric door latches. Please. If you're gonna load the thing up w/ luxury items, at least give it the one item you're likely to use more than all the others combined on any given trip. Had it on my Formula and loved it, don't have it on the Vette and it s*cks. Back to that article, it appeared in an issue w/ a comparo of high end exotic/sports/gt cars, and all but one had steering wheel radio controls, including Porsche, Bently, BMW, Mercedes, Jag...ect. number77 01-05-2005, 04:26 PM SPECIFICATIONS Overview Models: Chevrolet Corvette coupe and 2006 Corvette Z06 Body styles / driveline: 2-door hatchback coupe with removable roof; rear-wheel drive (coupe); 2-door hatchback coupe with fixed roof; rear-drive (Z06) Construction: composite body panels, hydroformed steel frame with aluminum and magnesium structural and chassis components (coupe); composite and carbon-fiber body panels, hydroformed aluminum frame with aluminum and magnesium structural and chassis components (Z06) Manufacturing location: Bowling Green , Kentucky Engine 6.0L V-8 LS2 7.0L V-8 LS7 Displacement (cu in / cc): 364 / 5967 427 / 7011.3 Bore & stroke (in / mm): 4 x 3.62 / 101.6 x 92 4.125 x 4 / 104.8 x 101.6 Block material: cast aluminum cast aluminum Cylinder head material: cast aluminum cast aluminum Valvetrain: OHV, 2 valves per cylinder OHV, 2 valves per cylinder Fuel delivery: SFI (sequential fuel injection) SFI (sequential fuel injection) Compression ratio: 10.9:1 11:1 Horsepower (hp / kw @ rpm): 400 / 298 @ 6000 500 / 373 @ 6200 Torque (lb-ft / Nm @ rpm): 400 / 542 @ 4400 475 / 657 @ 4800 Recommended fuel: 93 octane (recommended but not required) 93 octane Estimated fuel economy (mpg city / hwy / combined): automatic: 18 / 25 / 21 manual: 19 / 28 / 23 TBD Transmission Corvette coupe Corvette Z06 Type: Hydra-Matic 4L65-E 4-speed auto.; Tremec 6-speed manual Tremec 6-speed manual Chassis / Suspension Front: short/long arm ( SLA ) double wishbone, cast aluminum upper & lower control arms, transverse-mounted composite leaf spring, monotube shock absorber short/long arm ( SLA ) double wishbone, cast aluminum upper & lower control arms, transverse-mounted composite leaf spring, monotube shock absorber Rear: short/long arm ( SLA ) double wishbone, cast aluminum upper & lower control arms, transverse-mounted composite leaf spring, monotube shock absorber short/long arm ( SLA ) double wishbone, cast aluminum upper & lower control arms, transverse-mounted composite leaf spring, monotube shock absorber Traction control: electronic traction control; Active Handling electronic traction control; Active Handling Brakes Corvette coupe Corvette Z06 Type: front and rear power-assisted disc with ABS; cross-drilled rotors with Z51 Performance Package front and rear power-assisted disc with ABS with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, cross-drilled rotors Rotor diameter x thickness (in / mm): front: 12.8 x 1.26 / 325 x 32 rear: 12 x 1 / 305 x 26; Z51 Performance Package: front: 13.4 x 1.26 / 340 x 32 rear: 13 x 1 / 330 x 26 front: 14 x 1.3 / 355 x 32 rear: 13.4 x 1 / 340 x 26 Wheels & Tires Wheel size: front: 18 inch x 8.5 inch rear: 19 inch x 10 inch front: 18 inch x 9.5 inch rear: 19 inch x 12 inch Tires: Goodyear Eagle F1 GS Extended Mobility front: P245/40ZR18 rear: P285/35ZR19 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar Extended Mobility front: P275/35ZR18 rear: P325/30ZR19 Dimensions Wheelbase (in / mm): 106 / 2629 106 / 2629 Overall length (in / mm): 175 / 4445 175 / 4445 Overall width (in / mm): 73 / 1854 76 / 1930 Overall height (in / mm): 49 / 1244 49 / 1244 Curb weight (lb / kg): 3179 / 1442 3130 / 1419.7 | ||
