Question got this from DH read it in another topic...hmmmm

A reall scary thought is if you substitute Camaro for Charger and Zeta for LX...............

and a few responses about it but thought the whole 5th gen comunity should see it??

"?" is will it get 2 doors and a 4 door varient, and also whats the matter with a little higher roof line, I park my Z next to my fiancee's 98 stang the stang is taller and more upright yet still its a good design..as is the 05...does a more upright stance make it not a good car..so what if its not swoopy and sleek..ITS A MUSCLE CAR

what do you guys think??

Problem is that people have grown to know that the Camaro is more Corvette then Mustang. Thats what 50% of the people on this board want really, just a 4 seater Vette. I think some of us forget some that actualy might use this car outside of the race track.
There is nothing wrong with a more upright Camaro.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. A more upright car would definitly appeal to a wider array of people (such as the mustang does). As has been stated many times on this board, the continued success of any fbod relies on the bread and butter sales (v6, women, etc) not just the enthusiasts who want to go fast.

Exactly. People still drool over the 03/04 Cobra's even with its upright stance, and it still handled VERY well for a 3800lbs car. And thats with a 25 year old chassis that was never made to handle IRS. I belive it still outhandled the 02 Camaro in a race around Englishtown's little race track.
Now imagine that same kind of power, perhaps a lower weight, wider wheel base and track, and a Camaro.

The point of my "nightmare scenario" is that DMC seemd to have such a determination in creating a car called Charger that they GAVE UP on trying to make it look like one and called whatever they came up with Charger JUST to use the name.

Charlie and I (amongst others) are scared to death that Chevy will make the same MISTAKE and call the Zeta car "Camaro" even if it really ISN'T a REAL Camaro.....

This is all based on the SAME arguements about firewall height, etc...that we've heard about Zeta.....

We don't mind a slightly more upright Camaro....just NOT a SEDAN!!!!

Exactly. I would never want the Camaro to be M*stang-like though, it should be sportier.

Al, I find that difficult to believe. On a track like that I would say it's more driver than car, and the power advantage of the S/Ced car.

Camaro not Mustang like? Puh-leez. It is no more Vette then the Mustang is.
Wow its gets carried down outdated Vette engines. But suspension wise it is just as good as a Mustang. Then again, If you guys do not want it Mustang like... I guess you want a 30+K base car? Oh wait, Hopes and dreams still........

I hope the new camaro is not more upright like the mustang. I had my SS parked next to an '05 mustang and the first thing I thought was "OMFG, that thing is a tank!" I would prefer the camaro to stay short and have to fall into and climb out of the driver seat.

IMO perfectly said on every point.

Someone brought up a good point in another thread about how alot of Camaro enthusiasts made excuses about the Cobra being quicker.

Fact of the matter is, for every excuse that one comes up with, there is an excuse to counter it. The Cobra is supercharged? Well, the Camaro has a bigger displacement. The Cobra has IRS? Well the Camaro is wider. And it goes on, and on, and on...

Just be honest and realize the Mustang is still around, and the Camaro is not. The Cobra puts out more power, and the Camaro doesn't. The Cobra is quicker around the track than Camaro, regardless as to driver.

H*ll, you can put a top drawer driver in a Grand Prix who will be quicker around the track than a marginal driver in a Camaro.

Excuses, excuses, excuses...

To be honest, I always disliked the low seating position of 3rd and 4th gen F-bodies anyway. However, I think it would be weird if it was more upright than the Mustang. Maybe a similar seating position, but not higher.
