Tranny noise while engaging 1st gear, only when cold?.?.?.?
Before its said, I did do a search, and didnt find anything like this problem of mine.
About 3K miles ago I replaced my clutch.. used a new SPEC3. Along with it I installed a new Findanza Alum flywheel, new TO bearing, and new GM Pilot Bearing.
When the car is cold when I engage 1st gear, letting out normally, I get a slight ocilating grinding noise. Itll do this only when the car is cold, or it seems, and only does it for the first few 1st gear take offs. Let me make it clear.. only does it WHILE engaging... once engaged its gone. Then it dissapears.... if I let the car sit for more then a couple hours itll do it again even though the motor isnt cold anymore. We installed everything with locktite so Im 99% sure its not anything backed out. Oh yeah.. it does this while engaging reverse too.
I heard horror stories about a sound like that possibly being a bearing going out in the motor so I changed my oil yesterday, no shavings on the drain plug, nor any shavings in the filter. I cut the filter open and there were no traces of shavings at all. Someone mentioned it could just be a cold clutch causing a small vibration on the cold alum FW?.?.?
WTF could this sound be?
Reiterate symptoms:
-Ocilating grind noise
-Only when egaging 1st and reverse
-Once into first, completely engaged, goes away
-Only when cold
-Only first few 1st gear take offs, then goes away
-Car has normal chatter
-All new parts installed
-99% chance no backed out bolts
Thanks in advance..
