spark plug gaping, stock motor

I just got new plugs and MSD wires to beef up my LT1's ignition a little. I think the box said to gap them to .050. Should I leave it at that since my internals and all are stock or is there a better gap for power?
By the time summer comes it will have a tune and be on a 125 or less shot but I am only going to spray it all the time. Most of the stuff I have found in a search on people who do it are people who are blown or run a lot of N20 all the time.

Well which plugs are you using? If they are oem stock then yes it's .050, but your using aftermarket plugs (autolite-ngk) then gap them lower like .035-.040 since your planning to be on the bottle. The lower gap will have no affect on the car.

Yes those plugs are gap at .050, now if your running the bottle don't use those plug. Plat plugs don't run to well on the bottle.

I got TR55's and gapped the to .055 . Just waiting on my plug wires from HPE to get here. I order the Taylor 10.4mm wires.

Re: spark plug gaping, stock motor

Back when my engine was stock, I installed at set of Bosch platinums, gapped at .50", and it ran horrible. The next day I yanked the plugs and didn't find any installation problems (loose wire, wire on wrong plug, etc). I installed a set of stock AC Delco platinum plugs and the car ran great. Platinum plugs run hotter and can potentially cause pre-detonation with your nitrous. I would suggest a set of Autolites (I believe 106 is the stock heat range) or NGK TR55's gapped at .050". I prefer the Autolites as the NGK's have a threaded cap that can come loose.
