Aftermarket Seats?
Aftermarket Seats?
I am looking to replace my worn out, heavy stock front seats with some good looking racing seats. I prefer leather but I guess cloth would work. I am going for weight reduction so I need them to be light also. Please offer suggestions. Thanks,

Re: Aftermarket Seats?
I bought some off of ebay. I got the "NISMO" black/carbon fiber cloth ones. They look great! The carbon fiber is actually a silver thread woven into the bolsters but the efferct is nice.
The bolsters are a little tight at the front edge of the seat but otherwise they are pretty comfortable. They are firm though.
They claim to be like 19 lbs. each but I'm not sure about that. They felt only slightly lighter that the factory seats.
Be prepared to do some fabrication to get them in. They are flat on the bottom and the factory seats are open on the bottom to make room for the sliders. I initially tried to use my existing driver's side power seat sliders. They were too tall to get the seat at a comfortable height even at their lowest position. I took the sliders back out and used the ones that came with the seats and gave up my ability to alter the height. I made some adapter brackets and spaced them to get the seat height I wanted. The driver and passenger mountings are different, so unique brackets had to be made for each side. I ran the factory seat belts through the seat back openings at the top of the seat. Looks like it was made that way.
Only problem now is that my door panels and rear seats don't match my new front seats!

Re: Aftermarket Seats?
Damn!! You did a lot of work. So nobody out there makes aftermarket seats that will fit right into our f-cars? If not then I'm not going to worry about it. I'll just try to fix the foam in the stockers.
