Toyed with 05 gt.

On my way to school today, Driving past the dealerships i spot a BRAND NEW 05 gt sitting waiting to pull out. This thing just came off the truck ( matter of fact they were still taking mustangs off it ) it still had the white plastic protective stuff on it. It was dark grey too. Anyways he revved at me as i was approaching and launched out behind me. He got up on my bumper, and i dropped to 3rd, going about 45mph. I floored it and so did he, maybe about ~.5 car pulled before he was in it too. I say i had the gt by about 3 cars by 80. It was 5 speed for sure. Anyways, when it gets broken in and people start modding them, they will hold their own im sure. I had mods in my sig ( minus cam and rockers ) Anyways just thought i would share of my encounter with the new 'stang. I can't wait to run one from a dig, but they just got them in this morning and i am pretty sure it was a salesman driving it. Still the last thing i was expecting on my way to school at 9am.

Re: Toyed with 05 gt.

Yeah,
I had the pleasure of running into one last night on my way home from work. He wouldnt leave me alone for nothing. Just kept beside me goosing it and when I would accelerate ever so lightly he would pull ahead like he was winning

I finally had enough and downshifted from 60 mph to 2nd gear
Rpms jumped to 6500 in a twitch and I put a few car lengths on it.
You could tell that he was stock so far from the exhaust note.

They will be great competitors with a few mods.

Good kill for the thread starter.

Good kill. Next time put it in second gear and put five carlengths on him. My second gear is good to 65 MPH. Man, now that I think about it, if he wasn't able to catch you from a third gear roll at 45 MPH that's pretty pathetic, unless he was in third gear also.

Can you read and comprehend what you're reading? The 05 Rustang is brand new and probably only had a few miles on it. When the engine gets a few more miles on it, I'm sure it will perfom a little better. Then again, you already know that, right?

Heh, that is word for word what I did to a poor guy in a LT1 last night.

My 2nd gear is good to 65 too, the guy in the LT1 didn't like it.

Re: Toyed with 05 gt.

Motor Trend got a 13.6 out of an auto but only trapped 99mph. Car and Driver pulled a 13.8 @ 102 in their latest issue with a 5spd. C@D's times are always a little slower than mags like MM@FF or good drivers here, but the trap speeds they get are accurate. That said, an M6 LT1 with a couple bolt ons and driven well could edge out a GT in the 1/4. Basically they're only slightly faster than a 99-04 5spd GT with their added weight, but they look a HELL of a lot better. For 22k, these cars should sell very well. I wouldn't mind having one.

Jason, you're gonna get banned for making statements like you wouldn't mind owning a Rustang j/k of course.

If we are talking redline, I am doing 85 in 2nd...and its a 6 speed with stock gearing

Those 05 Stangs sure look to be good competition for the LS1s that are still stock out there, but those numbers get smaller every day.
