Weld In LCA Brackets?

Alright i am getting the LCA brackets installed this weekend. I am going to take it to a local welding shop. I was wondering is there any way to mess it up? Should i leave the stock arms installed when they are being welded up? How do you know that the angle of the brackets is correct? I just want to make sure the i don't mess this up, cause i am in a hurry......since OCT 31 is the last day the track is open i want to get one run with my brackets and spohn rod end LCA's.

So let me know how the best way is to go at welding these babies on.

You absolutely can screw them up... I did. Basically you need to make sure that during the installation and welding process you keep the rear axle and the frame of the car stable in the same position with each other. If you remove the LCA's, then the axle moves, you won't know where the brackets should go.

So the trick would be to raise the car with jacks under the frame and under the axle. Remove ONE lca just by the end on the axle. Leave the other LCA installed. Set the bracket in place and install the LCA in the lowest bolt hole of the bracket, so the bracket is forced to be at a particular angle. Weld that bracket on, making sure the upper hole of the bracket is aligned with the stock bracket hole. Releat for the other side.

There's probably a couple ways you could do all this, the main point being not to move the axle once you've got the LCA's off.

What about putting the car on ramps? That is the way i was planning on doing it. That should keep the axle in place then correct? I just figured that's how i took the LCA's off when i did the subframes and it seemed everything stayed in place.

I am scared now. lol

what lca relocate you get.

the spohns which i have have a bolt that indexes the lcar bracket where the original lca mounts. kinda hard to screw anything up there. you will need to disconect the lca to mount the bracket so they can get welds inside the bracket. the spohns instructions says to get as much weld in as possible. i did mine with the rear out i got welds on every inch.

other note if you have rear disk, pbr calipers check caliper fit first mine hit big time on the e brake bracket and i had to notch the lca bracket to get it to work.

oh and ramps won;t work to weel gotta get the weight off the rear when you do this, and you will need to paint the brackets after welding to prevent rusting. so go with jack and stands do one side at a time pull the lca and tire weld in reloc bracket install new arms and on to the next side.

Can you explain more? I am unsure what you are saying will not clear?

do you have pbr rear disk brakes? if you do you have to cut a notch in the lca bracket to get them to fit. if you do not have pbr rear disk you be ok.

My Friend & I just got done installing some BMR Weld-In's on his 9-IN in his 96' and had no problems!!!!

I guess we are going to be using a lift. How will I hold the axle from moving when it's up in the air? They are the stock brakes-so i think i'm all set on that part.

Another vote for the Spohn brackets. They are easy to install and use both a bolt and weld to hold them in place. Like Jeffw it’s hard to screw the Spohn ones up. Plus the instructions are pretty clean on how to do it. I installed my Spohns on a lift.

Well there in now. It was pretty easy now that i have them done. I definately think they were worth the money....it got rid of my little wheel hop and the car doesn't rock back on launches like it use to......just rockets forward :D THanks for the replies.
