Valvetrain Questions

I'm soon to be rebuilding (finally) my 327 and I'm looking for some suggestions. Right now I've got a '67 327 block .020 over, 10.1:1 pistons, stock GM rods and crank and a set of '65 2.02 fuelie double humps. I'm going to stick a Crane 286* cam, 1.5 Crane roller rockers, pushrods, and double valve springs in it driven by a Jackson gear drive. Any suggestions on what brand valves I buy? Anything bad about Crane pushrods or valvesprings? They have the part numbers listed with the cam, so I'd buy them out of laziness more than anything else.

Also, on top I'll have a Weiand single plenum intake. I plan on buying a 750cfm Demon carb. Any suggestions as to which specific Demon?

Anybody have any suggestions about the cam? Right now I'm looking at a Crane 100182 cam and lifter kit. I'm not the best on cam profiles, but this thing seems like it'll match the optimal RPM nicely with the 2.02 intake valves and single plenum intake. Also, it appears to idle rough and have a decent overlap. I'm *really* partial to lope and surge at idle and the sound of overlapped exhaust.

Thanks in advance guys.

I can't help ya with the cam because I'm a pontiac guy.. but I've never heard anything bad about Crane stuff

Manley valves are high quality stuff that i would recommend and Crane cams are good even though i use comp cams personally. Be carefully not to over carb your 327, with what you are running you should make sure you get a demon with vacuum secondaries if you feel the need to run a 750 cfm carb since mechanicals will probably be too much for your project and be a nightmare to tune properly. Thats about all i have to say except that lopey idle sound is beautiful music, good luck!

Cool, before I read this I was actually already thinking about doing Manley Street Flo valves, so I'm glad you said that. So, you think a 750 with mechanical secondaries is a pain, huh? What about a 650 with mechanical secondaries?

Sorry for so much down time, but yeah a 650 with mechanicals would be a MUCH better idea on a 327, trust me i had a 750 double pumper on my big cammed 406 and it didn't even like having that much air, i have a friend with a 318 (i know hes a stupid mopar guy) but he runs a 650 and its a champ, i know this isn't an apples to apples comparison necessarily but as far as ci's go its close and thats half the battle.

Late reply, but yeah, I'm gonna go with a 650. If I do the math at 90% volumetric efficency, it's something like 638cfm, so a 650 should be plenty. I had a 750 on it originally and it would bog down hard at WOT for a second until it caught up.
