I need to tune my car badly. I have gotten a hold of a wideband O2 but it doesn't display RPM or record data. So that means I need to have someone watch and remember where to tune, or write down the AF as we go along. We're gonna be doing WOT and some 3/4 throttle hits and such...and the strip is the only place we feel most comfortable taking the car to 120+MPH. So have any of you seen or heard someone taking a passenger down the quarter?
BTW...at what point do you need a 5 point restraining harness? All I have is the factory seatbelts and the car should be in the 11s.

When you get a full roll cage, unless you want to die if your car rolls. The 5 pt harness will hold you rigidly upright. If you don't have a rollcage, the roof will collapse through your body if you roll the car :(

NHRA Rulebook, Sect. 16 General Requirements 10:9
No more than one person is permitted in any car during any run, except one co-driver permitted in 14-second and slower E.T. cars; co-driver must be a minimum of 16 years old........
5-point harnes is required when a roll bar or roll cage is required. "Roll bar" and "roll cage" have different definitions.

I'll move this over to the Drag Racing forum...
I think your best bet is to call the track. Some tracks more follow the rules than others. I rode in my bud's low 10 second car at one track without them saying a word. I then had a passenger in my Camaro and ran a 13.3 up in Gainesville (NHRA track) and they told me "don't do that again" when I picked up my timeslip :D

I have an 8pt cage installed in the car already, but just factory seat belts for now. Thanks for the replies.

find a laid back track and they might let you. also you might be able to on your first run. i think they need proof that you run faster than 14.00 before they can say no. you could always slam on the brakes 3/4 of the way down the track and pull times slower than 14.00.

That kinda stinks...
I've always been tempted to walk up to a 'big dog' and bribe them to give me a ride down the track!
