LT1/T56 Flywheel (where/what to get)

OK, its kind of a long story but I believe my car needs a new flywheel and clutch set.

The clutch broke a whole ago, and there were lots of hotspots on the flywheel so it was cut down, and put back in but still felt like it had bad hotspots...That clutch broke a month later (broken springs) and so I got a free replacement from McLeod, and the flywheel was resurfaced again. Well then the tranny broke a day later (actually before I even got the car back) and rebuilt.
Well now its having the same problem as every other time its had a bad clutch. Car goes into gear when its off, but not when its running...if you start it in gear it pulls foward. Its sorta drivable but you have to start it in first, and rev match into every other gear.
This is the exact way it acted with the last two clutches when they had broken springs.

So basically it is my beliefe that the fact that the flywheel was cut down too far, and had hotspots in it bad enough to shake the car when the clutch was slipping caused the springs in the clutch to break each time.
I didnt do any of the previous clutch changes, but I am planning on doing this.
I allready have the clutch/PP/throwout, I just need a Flywheel!

So where can I get a flywheel that doesnt cost an arm and a leg?
One of my friends mentioned GMPP makes a lightweight steel one, but I havnt been able to find it. A local pontiac dealer wants $270 for the flywheel, and because I work at Advance Auto I can get 25% off.
Should I just get a stock replacement and be done with it, or can I find a good lightweight one for a similar price? Thanks...

So no one here has bought a Flywheel or knows where to get one?
Aftermarket or stock...

I haven't heard anything about light weight flywheels to prove necessary to spend the extra cash for one honestly. I'd just go for a OEM. Aftermarket light weight flywheels I haven't seen for less than 300. I know Tbyrne motorsports used to have an Spec steel Flywheel for 300 bucks but if you can get OEM for closer to 200, I'd probably just go for that unless the extra 50-100 bucks isn't a big deal.

i don't know about those problems, but the stock flywheel is good enough

i don't like my SLP billet LT1 flywheel. it's only 13.5 lbs or something, and yeah the engine does rev faster, but launching is now a little harder and more abrupt. revs also drop quicker when lifting or braking

Is that the supercharged one you posted pics of?
If you do bring that back I'd love to see it, and maybe con my way into a ride

Anyway a friend is coming by later today to pick the Z28 up and we will be working on it at his house because he has more space/tools.
I'll give ya a PM when we get ready to tear it down.
Thanks!

I would recomend changing the hydraulics with new since you have rteplaced evething else. I have seen alot of people destroy the trans and put in a clutch because of the slave or master. GM sells a prebled kit for our cars.

Actually that is the first thing we did when the first clutch blew up.
Well a garage did that...now I do all my own work.
They changed the master and slave cyl...and when it didnt fix it they defective exchanged them and changed it again (no cost to me on the second one).
Finally they pulled the tranny.
