need help instaling Taylor OVC wires...

okay i got my taylor 8mm OVC wire kit for my car and have a few questions-

1) im assuming that the wires are allready cut to the correct lengths to reach over the valve covers and drop down.

2) the wires came with boots and crimps but i also recieved a seperate package of boots specifically for the LT1 so im assuming these are the ones i use?

3) how do i crimp the terminals on ? (i have the tool and idea but want to make sure doing right)

4) any advise on getting wires to slide into boots - besides using littl di-electric grease?

thnx guys

I think the wires may be a little longer than you need out of the box. This is the guide I'm going to use when I do my install. Ken has a bunch of other great guides on his site as well.

Good luck!

Oil works best getting the boots on. You will need to cut the wires to the length you want them to be, I recommend running them then marking where you want to cut (leave some extra incase you screw up.) You are correct about using the LT1 terminals they sent you. Just slide the inner most part under the wire and put the end on then crimp it on...make sure the connection is tight and there is a good amount of wire touching the end.

Having done this kit multiple times I may be of some help.

1: The wires are all much longer than necessary. After cutting them to size, I had a length left over long enough to fab up a new wire for a buddy who needed one. To find the proper lenght, do a mock up and mark each wire with the approximate length, and when you cut it give yourself some more as a "pad" incase of a mistake.

2: The Opti LT1 boots are the ones you need to use. The other boots come as a part of the Taylor universal kit, which is the wire part of the package.

3: It's easy to crimp the terminals. The tool that comes with the kit doesn't do the best job, but it works. Just make sure you get the core of the wire seated and sandwiched very well between the connector and the wire itself, and crimp away. Try to make the upper ends of the connector turn down into the wire to hold it.

4: I used Dielectric grease and never had a problem. It's specifically made for plugs/wires, so that's just what I'd recommend.
