Hanging onto 2nd gear at WOT
(and no, it's not a 700R4 or 4L60... It's an Acura automatic)
The only time a problem seems to be present is on the 2-3 shift at wide open throttle. The tranny won't shift until I back off just a bit.
So, it needs a rebuild... But it shouldn't be a "worst case scenario" rebuild AFAIK, right? I've been quoted anywhere from $1200 best case to $3000 worst case.
5 different places I called all gave me the same price.
That is a ****ing rediculous price. I wouldn't pay any more than $1200 to rebuild a tranny that is actually worth a damn!

Re: Hanging onto 2nd gear at WOT
it might just be acomputer thing i know that some 3rd gens had it where if youstep on the throttle more than 3/4 it won't shift to overdrive or something like that. just a thought prolly wrong.

But the car used to be just fine when I bought it... They probably just flushed the fluid or some crap to mask the problem when I bought it. It just recently started happening.
