did i buy the right shift kit

I just ordered a B&M shift kit for my 97 T/A.

I know alot of guys got the transgo, but B&M have been around for alot longer so i fugured it was the way to go. Any arguments there?

As long as it doesn't reck my tranny I'll be happy with it.

Did i make a mistake? It only cost me $49.00 canadian brand new.

Did you go with the shift "improver" kit or the actual full shift kit?

This one

Is the shift improver kit. Which is what you don't want. It's around $32 bucks American so that sounds about right for your price Canadian.

This One

Is the transpak. Out of the two this is the one you want. It runs about $62 bucks American.

Hope this helps.

Trans-Go has been here since 1959, and its extensive data base on transmissions "dwarfs" B&M. The Trans-Go Performance Shift kit can be modified to fit your particular vehicle, (smooth shifts at part throttle & firm shifts at WOT) and does not cost a great deal more ($93.64).

Well the guy told me i didn't need the transpak, so i got the other one. Darn it.
Can i manually shift thru the gears with that one.

and does it create new shifting characteristics by re-routing fluids through your transmission's valve body.

You can do whatever you want with the girls lol what you do in your own time is your business.

But to answer your real question. Read the slight explanations you have in the two links I gave you, that should explain what your asking. FYI the transpak is the one that reroutes fluid through the valve body, not the one it seems like you got. Also I have a trans-go and would highly highly recommend it.

B&M has some nice parts don,t get me wrong I like the company and have had many B&M parts over the years.....BUT in this case do yourself a favor and take the shift improver kit back and spring for a TransGo shift kit.

Whats so wrong with the shift improver kit anyways?
Theres always something to complain about, but it ussually always comes down to performance. When i was looking at headers everyone said do LT's due to performance issues. But When it came down to it i should have done shorties, due to my loss of bottom end, ground clearance and and reliability(due to my o2's being so low they get soaked in the rain). When i mod my car i try and do the most practical thing, I'm not looking at doing anything to my tranny that will cause it to blow up.

Is there anyone out there with this kit?
