Obrital Buffer
Obrital Buffer
How and when do you folks use these?
I'm going to be getting my car hood and front end painted in the next few months and I want to be able to keep the paint looking brand spanking new. I usually just handwax, and bust my *** to keep the car looking beautiful, however, this past year since she's been broken I haven't put much effort into it.
I'm thinking the buffer will help to get rid of the little bs scratches I have from some of the other d1ckheads at my apartment complex, and I think it will be an easy tool to maintain the shine with.
A little help? What kind of pads do you use/recommend, polishing compound, liquid polisher, etc... I'm not new to automotive detailing, I've just always been oldschool about it.

All of the orbitals you see in Sears, Walmart, Pepboys, etc are useless. The cheapest one that's worth time/money is the Porter Cable 7336/7424. Those cheapies usually orbit at around 2,000 OPM. The Porter Cable does 6,000. Enough to effectively break down polishes, but can't burn the paint unless you use a wool pad - a foam pad will never generate enough heat. www.coastaltool.com has the PC for $119 with a 6" velcro backing plate and a 6" counterweight, which is the cheapest deal you'll find. I got my pads from www.properautocare.com
