Are you asking if you should build a 383 for your 1993 F-Body (assuming that is what your screen name means - or is it some other car?) starting with a TPI, L98, SBC Gen 1 or LT1 block? If so, what is the purpose of the car.... street, street & strip, strip only, auto-X, etc.? What kind of power levels are you looking at? Do you want a fuel injected motor or a carb setup? Do you want to use your stock 93 ECM as the basis for a fuel injected motor? Do you plan to use a power adder - nitrous, S/C or turbo? Of all the engines you mentioned, only an LT1 will bolt directly into your 93 F-Body (assuming that's what you have)? Is that important to you? Do you have access to the other engines at a lower cost? And, all the engines you mentioned except the LT1 are SBC 1 engines, using the same block. There would be no benefit of using a TPI or L98 setup in a 4th Gen F-Body. I don't think we "fbody owners" are stupid..... we just can't read your mind :). As a minimum, you should have a signature that indicates the year of your car, trans, major mod's, so we know what you are trying to put the engine into. TheBeast_93LT1 07-07-2004, 01:05 PM it is a 93 z28 with an lt1 in it. nobody said fbody owners were stupid. i myself is an fbody owner. i want to know if a lt1 383 motor would bolt into my engine bay without a problem. i am selling my current motor and buying a 383 lt1 that a company has built for me at a good price. thanks. -Daniel:bow: MEAN LT1 07-07-2004, 01:09 PM Originally posted by TheBeast_93LT1 it is a 93 z28 with an lt1 in it. nobody said fbody owners were stupid. i myself is an fbody owner. i want to know if a lt1 383 motor would bolt into my engine bay without a problem. i am selling my current motor and buying a 383 lt1 that a company has built for me at a good price. thanks. -Daniel:bow: The actual physical size of the motor is not being increased its the overall stroke and bore size that getting increased. to answer your question, yes it will bolt right in . RacinLT1 07-07-2004, 01:10 PM the lt1 based 383 will drop right in. the other styles will require some major reworking to make fit/run correctly. if you want to keep the stock computer, you will need to get a new chip burned. TheBeast_93LT1 07-07-2004, 01:56 PM thanks for the info. is there a guide on line somewhere or a site to instruct me on how to do this? thanks. btw, i have done a search on this already. -Daniel:bow: | ||
