Just need some general info.

How long does the install take?
What tools are required?
How much am I looking to spend total on this?

Anyone have any sites or anything that tell you how to do it, please share. Thanks

Installing a rearend gear is something I would not consider tackling unless you have done one before or are getting help from someone who has. The reason I do not recommend doing it is because if it is not done right your gears will whine but most importantly the longetivity of your gears will be affected greatly.

Timing can take anywhere from a few hours to 10 hours. You will the following:

Torque Wrench
Magnet
Indicator
Bearing Puller
Gear oil and additive
Shims
Bearing kit
Ring and Pinion.

i'm doing mine right now as we speak, and its not that bad at all. The biggest problem i've run into was having to wait to get the pinion re-shimed since all the shops in my town were closed for the weekend. As long as you are patient, and somewhat automotively inclined, it definately do able.

After all, its a learning experience at the same time, and by doing this myself, I've learned everything i wanted to know about my rear end.

And no, nobody who had done one previously was helping, just two other friends as curious as myself. ;)

Thanks a lot, my car has no pickup in higher gears. I was just thinking about this post. I had it in 3rd going 40, went about 75% throttle for a second, nothing.
