Hey I broke mine as well. Does anyone know how much that peice costs? I was thinking that a salvage yard might have one for cheap.

It's about $85 wholesale. The thing is, a junkyard one is not likely to be in any better shape. They get brittle after all the years in the sun. When you bend it taking it out or putting it in, it likes to crack.

Thanks for the info Shoebox. Why is that dang thing so brittle ?Seems like they could have used a better plastic compound on the dash peice's. I know it gets a lot of abuse form the weather sun, moisture, ect. but dang ...lol guess I should have been more careful. Sorry to keep askin questions but Do you happen to know how to get the a pillars off? When I was getting to my dash guages I got it all undone but the top two bolts and knew the pillars had to come off but couldn't see how to do it. So I just tried to get my ratchet under the piece and allmost had em out when CRACK LOL I know I know I am a fool. But I learned a valuable lesson. That peice is fragile

The pillars just ****** off and pop back on. No real fasteners.

The pillars in my t top car have screws that you remove and then they pretty much fall out.

Ok, I know im a jackass, but i thought i was a total jackass for breaking this, i guess its pretty comman. I ordered mine on gmpartsdirect for like 87 then another 45 to ship. what a racket, i went ahead and got a new lense for in front of the gauges since mine was all scratched up for an extra $20 I checked the junkyards for the dash peice and none of the cars had it on them and 1 was busted. Others beat me to it. All this just to get a dead fly out of the gauge area, how it got in there is still unknown. Thanks guys

My friend just cracked his this weekend trying to install white face gauges. Basically, if it's over 5 years old, it appears there's no way of getting it out without cracking it. I tried fixing mine, but it was more of a lesson in frustration than anything else. Now mine is in a dump somewhere, so I go without, till I can justify spending the dough on a new one.
