i had my heart set on doin 3.42s but now i think i'm just gonna go straight for the 3.73's! :D
my question is, what is the best way to do this since i currently have 2.73s and what i understand to be a 2 series carrier. can i buy 3.73s made for a 2 series or do i need to buy the gears and a 3 series carrier?
i've never been clear on how this works.
also, if anyone is from the central ohio area, do you know of a good shop to have this installed at?

Yes, you can buy 3 series gears for a 2 series carrier.

You can either buy 2 series gears, or buy 3 series gears and a SLP takeout 3 series posi for 99 bux. :)

thank you. is there any advantage to having a 3series carrier over a 2-series?

when ever you order your gears just make sure that you tell them that you got a 2 series carrier so they dont give you the wrong ones btw 3.73 are a very nice gear youll be happier with them than the 3.42's

I don't think there is an advantage for the 3 series carrier over the 2, but i am not positive.

just whether or not there is any advantages to the 2 or 3 series carriers...is one stronger than the other? why did GM put the 2 series in the 3.08 and lower ratio rear ends?
