Engine displacement is determined by bore (cylinder diameter) and stroke (how far each piston travels). Stroke is a function of the distance between the crank centerline and the centerline of the connecting rod journal. The piston moves two times this distance. In a "stroker" motor the crank has been replaced (or reground) so that the stroker is longer and the displacement consequently larger.
