johnsocal 09-15-2002, 12:51 PM Here are some pictures. What do you think?

I think the overall design is very clean but i dont care for the odd-looking optional rear wing. The base price is around $27,000 which isnt cheap but at least its under $30 grand. The front reminds of a more rounded Caddy CTS.
what are your thoughts on the new Infiniti G35 coupe?
What a great looking car. That's probably one of the best looking coupes on the market now.
It's cool that Nissan sees a market for TWO RWD sub $30K coupes.
transam8 09-15-2002, 01:50 PM I think it looks great! I would take that over a 350Z anyday.

johnsocal 09-15-2002, 02:48 PM Considering that the g35 coupe gets 260 hp out of a v6 and has rwd and seats 4 I think that this car will be very successful. Since the ifiniti g35 coupe doesnt have the history of the original Z and the hype of the new Nissan 350 Z it should be also easier to get without long waits and dealer gouging.
johnsocal 09-15-2002, 02:59 PM Heres the official base price of the G35 sedan from Kelly blue book http://kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc.ncb?kbb.CA;799169;CA059&92649;car&6;Infiniti;2003%20 G35&M15M1A2;M15M1&2003;;;&Cars&&nc
The Coupe will most likely sell for the same price as the sedan.
jrp4uc 09-15-2002, 05:55 PM A very sharp car (I'd go sans wing). It'll be interesting how Nissan manages the two very similar cars. Without knowing all of differences, the less edgy G35 gets my vote. It's a shame the CTS doesn't look as nice as the G35 coupe/sedan.
0toinsanein5.4sec 09-15-2002, 07:25 PM I like how it looks a lot better than the sedan.
BTW: johnsocal i noticed u registered in 1970?!?!?
Z28Wilson 09-15-2002, 08:55 PM It looks pretty clean, though I think the taillights are a little odd. Overall probably not something I'd be too interested in purchasing.
IMPALA64 09-15-2002, 09:25 PM In typical Japan fashion...the front looks like a watered down CTS ripoff. First Lexus copies Mecedes, now Infinity copies Cadillac.
ol'93formula 09-15-2002, 10:19 PM Here is a picture of the show car version on the G35 from 2000.
http://www.conceptcarz.com/carChosen.asp?car_id=498
I don't think the CTS was shown until 2001. I dont think they ripped the CTS off.
johnsocal 09-15-2002, 11:19 PM 0 to insane,
<-------Back in 1970 is when Al Gore and I invented the internet :-D
I really dont know why it say 1970 since a registered back in 1997.
1970 sure makes me seem old-school considering I wasnt even born yet.
Burmite 09-16-2002, 02:24 AM I like it! But it needs dual outlet exhaust like the 350Z. That's my only problem with the looks.
Chuck! 09-16-2002, 02:39 AM Its the 350Z, no its the skyline, no its the G35... Zarella was big on that and I wanted to punch him in the face for it.
Caddy has a similar theme in their cars, but at least you can tell one from another.
Oh well if they move product my opinion means jack.
johnsocal 09-16-2002, 02:43 AM it does have dual exhaust. check it out http://g35driver.com/photos/albums/2003_G35_Coupe/2003-07-14/24.jpg
I think the rear license plate sits a little to low. The rear bumper looks a little to chubby and if the rear license plate was moved higher it would have helped break up that fat rear bumper.

I'm willing to place $$$ that Nissan had thea design first. I dont necessarily think either of them copied the other. They came up with similar designs. So what?
Strictly on the G35, gimme! I'd love to have one as a daily driver. All the performance of the 350Z with a little bit more refinement.
guionM 09-16-2002, 12:29 PM Good looking car. They actually kept it below $28,000!
Lexus or Mach1? Hmmmm :)
Been away for a few days, when was this format changed?
johnsocal 09-16-2002, 10:08 PM Here are some cool profile shots of the G35 coupe with some different aftermarket wheels (photoshopped) on @ http://g35driver.com/rides/spec/pix/PhatG_1031100631.jpg
I like many here have a difficult time imagining myself driving any thing else then a Chevy Camaro and an import is certainly the last on my list of cars that I would usually want.
The G35 coupe is the first import in a long time that I like and this is even considering that I think Infiniti is an "old-man's brand" like Lincoln and Caddy.
The new prototype SS that GM is going to be showing at the 2003 NAIAS better be a hint of the next Camaro to wet my appetite and keep me in the Chevy fold or might be looking elsewhere next year.
Aeromaks 09-17-2002, 12:20 AM It looks better than a 350z, and has the power to back it up.
If i want a 4door, i get caddy ctsi, but for a 2 door coupe daily driver, i want it, starting to save up my money now. That or a 90-95 300zx TT. =)
MunchE 09-17-2002, 01:05 AM It's ok I guess, I'd rather get a 350Z tho
johnsocal 09-17-2002, 05:29 PM It too bad that the 350 Z is only a 2 seater. If i decided to buy a two seater someday I personally rather have a used Corvette over a new Z.
Having seating for 4 is what makes the G35 Coupe so appealing and is one reason (of many) why I still think my 94 Camaro Z28 is such a fun and practical car.

johnsocal 09-18-2002, 12:07 AM WoW!! Those pictures of the G35 coupe in red look fantastic. I checked out the official specs and i was pleasantly surprised to see the HP is actually 280 and not 260 like I thought.
That car only gets better the more i know about it. i just wish it had t-tops or a removable roof like the Vette or the defunct Toyota Supra because sun/moon roofs dont provide enough open-air-motoring and a true convertible is usually too expensive.
silent1 09-18-2002, 05:09 PM Oh I didn't see this thread. I just posted a link to some other pictures in the lounge today. But I definitely like it. I'm not to crazy about the rear, but the rest looks awesome.
Acura already has it's CL Type-S, which i think looks boring. But I wonder if Lexus will release something to compete with it.
99PewterSS 09-18-2002, 11:18 PM I like the G35 styling, but not the interior. My wife and I looked at the Acura but went with an IS300 instead.
As an aside, for those who think GM is quality/customer relations is bad .. go take a look at www.acura-cl.com and click on the "Tranny Problem" board.
I think there were rumors here on CZ28.com that Toyota was bringing back the Supra with V8. A Lexus version of that might be interesting ...
johnsocal 09-19-2002, 06:29 PM Heres the official pricing of the new G35 Coupe @ http://motortrend.com/news/stories/020918ia.html
Its going to start at $29,000.
johnsocal 09-22-2002, 01:22 AM Here's a guy selling a new G35 M6 on ebay @ http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1768993392#DESC
He has some cool pictures of the car that I havent seen before.
guionM 09-22-2002, 01:43 PM You know, I like everything about that car except it's steering wheel.
OnyxXtreme 09-23-2002, 07:43 AM at work, we make the billing statements for Nissan/Infiniti financing, and we've been mailing small pamplets about the damm G35coupe for months now,
and i am sick and freagin tired of it
it looked almost decent the first time i saw it, but by the end of that first 8 hour shift, it looks like the typical import/ricer
oh well, enough of my beetching
