Does a stock 98 have dual exhaust pipes?

I was looking under my 98 z28 and noticed that it has a dual exhaust and then it meets to join before the muffler. I bought it used but is this stock?

Yes, it comes that way. Has to do with emissions. From a legal stand point (in California at least) you can't change it to true duals.

yea it comes stock with a y-pipe like that. according to my exhaust guy there isn't enough room under the car to have all the neccessary cats to keep it legal if you wanted to do true duals

All 98-12 F-bodies have the same type exhaust. A Y-pipe off the exhaust manifolds into a single intermediate pipe over the axle then into a single inlet muffler which has dual tailpipes coming out of it.

Thanks guys for the responses. I was also wondering if I buy the cut-out with the flowtech tips, would I have to buy two of them? One for each pipe and install them before the catalytic converter?

You only need one cutout. Most people install them in the itermediate pipe before it goes over the axle. There isn't enough room to install a cutout before the cats.
